“Edit 11 April: just ordered from Tuk Tuk for the third time and omg whomever was cooking tonight, kudos to them! Absolutely incredible and took me right back to Thailand! Loved the Tom yum rice and the chilli and basil pork stir fry with coconut rice!!! Holy WOW!!! 5 star and the best Thai takeaway in the area! Ordered drunken noodles, pad Thai and tom yum fried rice from here and I have to say, whilst it’s one of the best Thai’s in the area (Purley is seriously lacking), it could still be better. The pad Thai was lovely with lovely large prawns but the sauce tasted like it was from a jar rather than authentic tamarind. The drunken noodles were smokey and didn’t taste like authentic pad kee mow, but the Tom yum fried rice, in spite of not being fully authentic, was amazing! Really good flavours and good sized prawns. Overall, it tastes like someone not Thai, making Thai food. Apologies if this is incorrect, but just the way it came across in the cooking. Yes, I would definitely order from Tuk Tuk again as it was mega tasty, but it’s personally not authentic enough to satisfy my Thai craving.”

“After taking a break from this pub due to the previous management, I visited last night after work and was very impressed with the ambiance, food and great Guiness. This really in pub terms the equivalence of an Oasis. It's like an English country pub, but in Croydon. The vibe is relaxed with enough people to create a good atmosphere, without the craziness of other Croydon pubs. To eat, the had the stew which at £8.50 was amazing value, the main menu is pizza. To drink we had Guiness which was excellent, the wine selection is very good as well. The service was excellent, both efficient and friendly. The other customers, who seemed to be locals, were friendly and welcoming, but not imposing so we could enjoy our drinks and food at our table, and when going to the bar talk and meet other locals. Highly recommended for those who like pubs as pubs, not flashy wine bars, or sports bars, great food and drink, served well by friendly people with a local vibe, but not cliquey. For sure, we will be visiting again,”

“Dined at Taste of Bengal for the first time ever this evening and I have nothing but good things to say. The food was amazing, so flavoursome! Papadoms were offered whilst we decided on our mains and came out warm which was nice. I had a Badshahi Chicken and the Mr had a Chicken Tikka Masala, both had generous amounts of chicken. Sides included the best saag aloo I've had in ages, onion bhaji and garlic naan. Server (didn't catch his name sorry) closed with "we hope to see you again regularly, you'll always be very welcome" such a warm an friendly service. 100% recommend and will definitely be visiting again/ getting take away. “I found the food here most enjoyable, much better than the sort of curries you can get in places where good flavour and texture are replaced by salt, sugar and hot spice all put into something more like a porridge. Also great in this small restaurant was that one of the main guys there was very pleasant and easy to talk to. Under new management and ownership, with now a great atmosphere in a wonderful location, a short distance from East Croydon Station, with lovely welcoming staff, a brilliant catering team preparing amazing Afro-Caribbean Food. A delicious delight...!!!”
