“Short notice decision to book for lunch on a midweek. Pleasingly busy given the current financial climate. Nice menu, great staff. Mum loved being able to have a smaller portion from main menu. Steak pie was excellent. Couldn't find a single piece of fat or gristle if I tried. Would be back more often if lived locally.”

“Really great place, we were immediately welcomed by lovely staff and were quickly served drinks, they also served the most lovely bread to start and our food quickly followed, the presentation was amazing and the food was extremely delicious same with the dessert. Also couldn't be happier with the covid safety measures with glass screens between tables and staff wearing visors. Would definitely recommend.”

“The stay was faultless. Easy check in and all staff were very friendly and helpful. Great atmosphere and the place seems very well managed. Ample good parking and well located for easy driving to Knaresborough and Harrogate. York is easily accessible by train from Knaresborough. Lovely, extensive building full of old oak beams and different drinking/dining areas. Rooms are well sized, clean with good facilities. Room pricing (everywhere) seems to have become more extensive with numerous booking options and room rates quite variable (even winter, week to week). We seem to have benefitted from what we imagine were all the doubles being booked, though we don't actually know. We (2 of us) paid for/booked a 'double room', which turned out to also be the 'family quad room' same room pictured on website. No complaints that way round obviously but I presume it would have been unlucky if we had booked the family room in the first place. I think showing images of the actual room offered rather than 'a typical double' is better but few establishments do that. What ever room you book, a great stay will be had and I/we highly recommend The Kestrel and all staff.”

“On route North. Fancied a Sunday Roast. Saw a queue of people waiting for the pub to open. So we joined the queue at nearly 12pm, reason being you don't see a queue unless it is popular. Didn't disappointed a very tasty roast lunch at a good price. Will be back.”

“Very good cozy place, plenty parking space, service was a bit relaxed , ordered starters that was never served but mains were delicious, portion size could be better but really enjoyed brownie ice-cream sundaey. Dogs are allowed inside so had to listen to constant dog barking whilst eating food so not sure if there was any music playing.”

“Complimentary nibbles and Prosecco and very taste food! Extremely friendly and helpful staff, awesome décor and even had a wireless phone charger built into our table lamp. Food took a little bit longer than expected to come, but I'm sure this was just opening day teething issues. Overall a great experience!”
