Immerse yourself in history at this ancient Native American site, the first in Florida to be designated a State Archaeological Site. Donated by Karl and Madira Bickel in 1948, the site features a flat-topped ceremonial mound made of sand, shell, and village debris. This impressive structure, measuring 100 by 170 feet at the base and standing 20 feet tall, reveals evidence of at least three periods of Native American cultures, with the earliest dating back 2,000 years. Visitors can enjoy a peaceful picnic at the available picnic tables while appreciating the site's rich historical significance. Future enhancements include plans for a nature trail and a kiosk providing historical information. Please note that no additional amenities are available at this time.
