Del Valle East Beach

This District open space has a rich history dating back to the Depression era, when it was used as a burn dump and later converted into a landfill. After years of being abandoned, the Park District acquired the property in 1995 and conducted remediation work to restore the area to its natural state. The property was renamed Eolian Dunes Preserve in 2007, paying homage to the wind-swept dunes that define the landscape.
