Visitors can also explore the beach, swim, picnic, and enjoy activities like wildlife-watching, mountain biking, hiking, horseback riding, swimming, boating, and windsurfing.

Located in Oakland, California, the Huckleberry Botanic Regional Preserve is a stunning ecological gem that showcases a unique native plant community exclusive to the East Bay. This 241-acre park represents a relic plant association that can only be found in certain areas along California's coast with specific soil and climatic conditions. The preserve's vegetation has its roots in past climates and geologic history, originating in the distant past along the southern coast of California. Today, similar vegetation can be found on the islands off the Santa Barbara coast and in isolated pockets along the mainland coast. The rock strata in the preserve contain the remains of microscopic diatoms and radiolaria, creating soil that is low in nutritional value but ideal for pioneering chaparral species.

Vargas Plateau Regional Park is a 1,249-acre park located in the Fremont Hills in California. The park offers stunning views overlooking Niles Canyon, Fremont, Union City, Newark, and the San Francisco Bay. It is home to a variety of wildlife, including golden eagles, hawks, deer, bobcats, frogs, snakes, and more. Visitors can enjoy over six miles of hiking, biking, and equestrian trails, as well as birdwatching and raptor viewing opportunities. The park features diverse habitats such as grasslands, wetlands, oak woodlands, and more, providing a unique outdoor experience on the urban/wildland threshold.

Dos Vientos Community Park is a 28-acre park located at 4801 Borchard Road in Thousand Oaks, California. The park features a 14,000 square foot community center, reservable picnic areas, rooms, fields, and sport courts for day and evening use. The park was dedicated to the Conejo Recreation and Park District in 2002 by the developers of the Dos Vientos Ranch community. In 2013, covered parking solar panels were installed, and in 2017, Master Plan improvements were completed including renovations to the lobby, picnic pavilions, and landscaping. The park is open daily from 7:00am – 10:00pm and offers outdoor volleyball, basketball, and tennis courts on a first-come, first-served basis. The Conejo Community Center & Outdoor Unit is a school located at 1175 Hendrix Avenue in Thousand Oaks, California, United States. The Center offers quality recreation and leisure programs to the community and is home to the nature-loving Outdoor Unit of the Recreation Division. They provide a wide range of recreational programs for all ages, as well as large scale special events throughout the year. Kruse Rhododendron State Natural Reserve is a park located in Cazadero, California, United States. This reserve, adjacent to Salt Point State Park, was generously donated by Edward P. Kruse in 1933 as a living memorial to his father. The 160-acre lake is fed by the Folsom South Canal and provides a great year-round getaway just 25 miles from downtown Sacramento. These improvements include new shade structures, restrooms, shower facilities, laundry facilities, and more. The Beach Store is open Thursday through Monday, offering a variety of amenities for visitors.

The park overlooks the Petaluma River and San Pablo Bay, providing stunning views from the slopes of Mount Burdell. Dogs are allowed in developed areas of the park, but not on trails or in historic buildings. Dry Creek Pioneer Regional Park is a historic park located at 550 May Road in Union City, California, United States. This park offers over 5,800 acres of open space, more than 35 miles of trails, and panoramic views of the Bay Area. The park is a combination of Garin and Dry Creek Pioneer Regional Parks, once 19th-century ranches that have been preserved and expanded over the years. Visitors can enjoy the beautifully restored two-acre Dry Creek Garden, which features nearly 200 native and exotic plants that bloom throughout the year. The garden is open to the public Thursdays through Saturdays from 10am to 4pm. Additionally, the park features the Meyers Cottage, a historic summer home donated to the Park District, which will eventually be opened for receptions, weddings, and events.

Anthony Chabot Regional Park is a beautiful 3,304-acre park located at 9999 Redwood Road in Castro Valley, California. This park offers a variety of outdoor activities, including camping, hiking, and horseback riding. With a public campground, 70 miles of trails, and access to Lake Chabot, Anthony Chabot Regional Park is a popular destination for nature lovers. Please note that there is a park curfew from 10pm to 5am, and gate hours for the campground and group camps are from 8am to 10pm, April through October. Parking is free, as is entry for dogs and guide/service dogs. The park can be accessed via Redwood Road from Skyline Blvd due to winter storm damage.

The park is open from 8am to 9pm during the summer months and offers a Visitor Center open on Saturdays from June 18th through Labor Day. The park also hosts an annual Apple Festival event in September. The park encompasses over 5,800 acres of open space and more than 35 miles of trails with panoramic views of the Bay Area. Garin and Dry Creek Pioneer Regional Parks are two adjoining parks that were once 19th Century ranches. The Park District has preserved the history of the parks while expanding them with ecologically and historically significant ridges, trails, and open spaces.

Hollister Hills State Vehicular Recreation Area is a popular park and tourist attraction located at 7800 Cienega Road in Hollister, California, United States. This unique park features over 6,800 acres and nearly 200 miles of trails in scenic and varied terrain, including oak woodlands, rolling hills, lush canyons, and seasonal creeks. Visitors can enjoy off-highway vehicle (OHV) opportunities as well as designated hiking, bicycling, and equestrian trails. The park is open 365 days a year, with vehicle operation and day use available from sunrise to sunset. Day use fees are $5 per vehicle, while camping fees are $10 per vehicle per night.
