"Unfortunately I never had the chance to stay here due to travel issues (my trip canceled at the last minute), but the communication with the hosts/general manager was so accommodating and kind, and took my individual issue into account to adjust their usual policies. It was so nice to be helped by someone who was empathetic (even though I was not yet technically a 'guest' and they owed me nothing). None of the other bookings I made for the canceled trip extended the same courtesy. Because of that interaction, I wouldn't hesitate to book here in the future or recommend the place to others."

"We’ve stayed at the Dutra a few times and we can’t express how cute quirky and perfect this place is. The rooms all have so much character, are super comfortable and offer great views and outdoor spaces. The location is excellent if you want to be in the heart of one of the best neighborhoods in San Diego. The owners are transparent about the lively neighborhood so you know that this isn’t a place for a quiet get away. All the touches really make it feel luxurious (the soaps smell so good and we stan a fellow kettle). 13/10 recommend"

"I stayed here with my husband our wedding weekend and it was such an incredible choice. We loved it so much that we’ve told ourselves that we need to come back to get a chance to stay in every room. We stayed in room A and it’s view of the city and water was breathtaking. The attention to details such as Malin & Goetz products and local coffee was also incredibly special. The location itself is also amazing because it is in the heart of Little Italy so you are able to walk anywhere really. We live in San Diego and feel that this place is the perfect spot for a staycation!! Can’t wait to come back :)"

"We absolutely loved our stay at the dutra! It felt like we were a true local. We took bikes out to the island. The staff was incredibly attentive. We were cold one night, so they dropped off blankets the next. We were slightly concerned about the noise and not staying in a traditional hotel. Both of these fears were alleviated. It is definitely a little noisy, but a noise machine and ear plugs made my VERY soft sleeping girlfriend sleep like a baby. The high-end sheets and lotions also helped. Stay like a local. Stay at the Dutra."
