"Had a great experience overall with the Greenway. I elected to park all the way down at the nature preserve. I then walked to the end of the paved area, turned around, and walked the entire length of the Greenway back. I found the tail to overall be well-maintained. It was generally clean other than the hordes of inconsiderate dog walkers leaving poop bags everywhere. I loved listening to the birds, and I loved seeing the nice vistas of the river. There were some uglier industrial views as well, but that is to be expected in an urban area. I am deducting one star due to the wasted potential of this trail to be an even bigger tourist attraction. As a tourist myself when I got to the western end of the trail it just dumps you into a neighborhood park with a playground. There is no clear directional signage or bulletin boards or anything nearby showcasing local events or shows or attractions or restaurants. It was frustrating to see the Knoxville skyline along the river at the end of the trail but not have any clear way to access the heart of the city on foot or by bike from this park. As a distance walker I would have loved to have kept walking to a local neighborhood business district to grab lunch and support a small business but couldn't figure out how to safely access one since Knoxvillians FLY on local roadways that are very narrow and have no shoulders."
"Great place to start on the Greenway to walk up to the Ijams Nature Center and down past the quarry to Forks on the River."
"Could use more trash cans and outhouses otherwise nice area didn't try to fish and if you don't mind a plane taking off every 10 minutes not alot of parking by tennis courts but fine if you fish."
"Quiet. Nice to hear the drone of small single engine planes overhead as they land at Island Home Airport"
"Bike ride on a Sunday. There were three of us. Most times two could ride side by side, so this green way is decently wide.We followed it to the end...about 3.5 miles and almost 7 miles by the time we returned to our car .The green way ends after a short but steep climb to a meadow with a bench overlooking the river.Wonderful view and great place to snap a few photos, rest before starting back. There are three or four grades that might make you want to get off your bike and walk but all are relatively short and i managed to ride all of them. Was a good fun leisurely workout and will highly recommend this route to anyone wanting a safe but interesting place to bike or walk."
