"If I could give a zero star I would. For anyone with struggles and concerns looking for an attentive and empathic psychiatrist to help make sense of your mental illness, I suggest you steer clear of this man. I met him through MDLive where I shared my concern of what illness I might have and a desire to take an extensive test to ease the fear of what I thought was an undiagnosed illness. Yet, all he cared about was interjecting mid-sentence, pointing to various books, and defending his competency despite never having called his competency into question. When I expressed that his book is limited and does not encompass the culmination of my life or experiences especially without any inquiry into said experiences, he expressed he had been practicing his craft for 40 years so that meant he could ask me 15 yes or no questions and determine who I was in 30 minutes. Then when I was proving 'difficult' for him because I couldn't just accept a stranger with a book with limited desire to seek insight beyond his book he said, "Do you want the medication or not? If you don't want my help you can try going to the emergency room and see how you like that." I firmly believe Doctors like Dr. Holmes contribute to our lackluster mental health program. There's no care for the patient nor interest to understand the experiences of the patient and how that might actively impact the quality of life they seek, only a desire to push pills and make money. From my understanding pills help but if there are underlying issues, then the pills can't solve it. I'm not opposed to pills as I can see their value. However, I am opposed to Doctors who see medication as the cure and rather than engaging the human in front of them, choose to instead place them under an umbrella term of their book while ignoring any concerns expressed or not providing sufficient answers with examples and/or explanations. If you are someone looking for answers and some resemblances of assurance, then find another psychiatrist. We are all human beings and just because some of us struggle mentally does not mean our concerns are invalidated. Find a Doctor that can help you understand why your concerns aren't suitable for your condition with examples from your experience, behavior, and their understanding, not one that will try to utilize fear to motivate you to act. Fear is already rampant and more is grossly unnecessary. I wish everyone having a difficult time luck, peace, and favor on your journey and hope this comment helps."
"I met Dr Terry F Holmes through MDLIVE. He is a psychiatrist. I had my one and only telehealth meeting with Dr Holmes on July 22, 2021. I was dealing with depression but was interested in trying to get off of some of my many medications. Dr Holmes suggested I stop several medications, but 3 of the medications should not be stopped suddenly nor at the same time. Also he wanted me to stop taking my cardiac medication but my cardiologist reduced my dosage. I suffered mentally to the point of suicide ideation. I tried calling MDLIVE to reach him but was unsuccessful. I ended up in a Behavior Health hospital for 5 days. As soon as my medication were restarted, my depression became more manageable. I do not recommend this physician to anyone!"
