"Part of history and I'm a history lover"
"The Norwegian Grade is a piece of California history. The road was carved out of the steep hillsides between 1900 and 1911. The grade was used to transport hay and wheat to the Oxnard Plain and the Port of Hueneme for export. Other routes to the Oxnard Plain were quite steep and hazardous. Construction was completed by hand drills, dynamite and picks and shovels. Construction was suspended during the hay and wheat havesting period in summer and fall."
