On A Roll Sushi 1306 Van Ness Avenue, Fresno, CA 93721

"So I came to Fresno on my way to Hale the JMT and thought, "I'll be on the trail for 14 days eating freeze dried food, why not splurge and have sushi as a last meal?". I went into this not having high expectations since we're in Fresno and they're like 2 hours from the ocean. That and I'm from the Bay Area... However, this place managed to even come in below my lowered expectations. I should have known when it shared the building with a Mexican food joint, like you can literally walk between the two. But I digress, the spicy tuna was mushy and not spicy at all. It looked like straight tuna. The fish on top the rainbow roll was cut so thin it was almost transparent and they use imitation crab when their menu states real crab. Lied there! Then the sashimi was horrible. It was warm and slimy but the albacore tasted like it had been sitting out hours and started to dry and get hard (see picture). The sushi chef tried to tell me the albacore has two meats, like turkey meat... Light and dark. Then the beer was served, not cold but not warm, and the glass was just wet, not frozen. Over all, this place sucks. Go somewhere else, don't waist your money."

"3pm Googled hours says open, called 4 times phone wouldn't connect no ringing tone, talked my husband into going maybe phone tied up with orders we hadn't been there since additional area opened , drove to restaurant arrived at 3:25 multiple flashing window signs saying OPEN, Sandwich Board Sign out on sidewalk says NOW OPEN, hours of operation sign hanging on a door showed Open Saturdays at 12 . Unable to open that door walked around to another door found a handwritten sign on a piece of paper saying be back at 4:00. So frustrating great way to loose customers definitely will not go again. Went to "You Me Sushi" always open and delicious."

"The place is a gem. Their tempura batter is excellent. A combination of flaky, sturdiness, and flavor. Gyosa were full of flavor and cooked to perfection. We came on a Tuesday and the place was sadly empty. Also, the service and attention to detail was just right. Our needs were met while allowing us to enjoy our meal. This is worth a drive from our home in North West Fresno."

"I think I found my go to place. I just haven't been impressed by other sushi places in Fresno. Good sushi overall, especially for the price. I had the rainbow roll. It was rolled nicely, bite sized. The rice was perfect texture and temperature. The rice to fish ratio was nice. Good date spot. Atmosphere was clean."
