"I was very sick this entire year. I had wanted a female doctor. Gulf coast medical is a teaching type office. You will see a person who takes your vitals, then a physician assistant who reports to Dr Amy Strobbe. You see Dr the last 5 minutes of your appointment. I received adequate care. Good referrals. Had some scary moments with getting my meds. I got the quickest response to a problem from the online instant message on the GCMC1 portal. The office was always very crowded. IMHO, If you are very sick, you should see someone who isn't spread so thin. I don't like to complain. I dont know what it's like to be a doctor or what they face. But I Hope this is useful to someone."
"It is BEYOND frustrating to be a patient of Dr. Amy Strobbe. There is a medication I need from time to time when there is an outbreak and if I do not have it I have excruciating pain. In the past I would just call Dr. Barnes and she would say "Sure, it will be at your pharmacy today". But not Amy Strobbe. Two days ago I called Strobbe's office to get this refilled. A person does not talk to you. You have to tell a recording nine pieces of information regarding what you need. The recording says that if anything is missing you will not be given your prescription. So I did exactly as required and I mentioned that I was away in California for a month so there is no way I could come in for an office visit. TWO DAYS LATER I called Amy Strobbe's office to ask if she had filled my medication. The receptionist said NO. Dr. Strobbe will not give you a prescription unless you come in for an office visit! I explained that I am 3000 miles away. How could I come in for an office visit. The answer I got back is "Sorry, that is Dr. Strobbe's policy". Obviously I am with the wrong doctor and I need to change ASAP. But what do I do now?"
"Do you like driving over to the Doctor's office, sitting in a waiting room, being around all those people who have the flu every time you need a refill of your medication? If you do you will love Dr. Amy Strobbe. I have never seen a doctor who holds so tightly on refilling your medications as Dr. Strobbe. I think she holds refills of prescriptions hostage just so she can get you to come into the office. Even long term medication that you have been taking for decades does not escape the wrath of Dr. Strobbe. You might get a 1 month refill on them if you come into her office; but once that runs out, good luck at getting her to refill it over the phone. Just tell your boss you have to take an afternoon off (every month) to drive over and sit in a waiting room to make Dr. Strobbe happy."
"When Kathy Barnes was there and I needed a refill of my prescriptions all I had to do was call her office and she would call the refill in to Walgreens. Now that Amy Strobbe has taken over, every other time I call to have my prescriptions refilled I am told I have to come in for an appointment. This may pad Amy's pockets with cash but it is a huge hassle for me because I have to miss work all morning in order to fit in an appointment I DO NOT NEED. I am perfectly well. I do not need to see a doctor. I do not have any interest in further padding Amy's pockets. I just need my f**king pills!"
"I was a patient of Dr Barnes for 14 years and she was wonderful. Now that her practice has been taken over by Dr Strobbe, the same cannot be said. You can't even get the meds that were prescribed for you, only because they refuse to write scripts for pain medication. I've had 2 back surgeries and a stimulator implanted in my back and still they refuse to give me scripts for pain. Sent me to a pain management doctor who wants me to get off any medication completely. This is impossible to do, I can't function or even walk without my scripts. I can now see why her ratings are so low, if I could, I would give her and her staff 0 stars. That's another thing, you never see the same people, so not exactly a family practice."
