"More than three people per chalet/groups should not stay here, Best Western Lake Lucille is better all the way around and BW even has a large family house that can be rented. I am an optimistic person, so I will share things I did like about this place: I was able to see the aurora borealis, I liked the bear toilet dispenser in the downstairs bathroom, the heated floors upstairs and downstairs, and I that we had a warm, dry place. With that said, Melissa should not be working in customer service. She was probably the most unaccommodating person I have ever met in Alaska. Not only was Alaska Adventure Unlimited quick to take our reservation over six months before and charge us, but also refused to refund when we had to make changes due to their inadequate accommodations for our situation. They told us that the chalet’s could accommodate 4–6 people. Unless these are very small people who want to sleep on a loveseat, floor, chair with ottoman or they could snuggle in the beds. They have three chalets, we rented all three chalets. We were so unhappy that on the first day, we asked to shorten our stay, and they refused to refund us. So we were forced to stay. In our chalet, there was a king bed upstairs and a queen bed downstairs. We are an average size family with a teenage son and daughter traveling with us. There were no accommodations for our children to sleep separately. One ended up on the floor/loveseat and the other on the bed. The other two chalets had trundle beds that could not be utilized in the room, the room was simply too small. Our family staying in the middle of chalet height is 5‘10“ and taller. They were a married couple, an adult son and one grandma, with one grandma arriving later that week. As soon as Melissa found that out, she was quick to try and charge us for her. They charge $20 per person per day above two people staying in each chalet. We quickly made reservations for the Best Western on Lake Lucille for the two grandmas for the week, an additional 800$, in lieu of staying at this difficult place. Since, the two beds in the downstairs bedroom could not be utilized, we had to move one of the beds into the living space for the week. Also, this was done in the third chalet. Since, they were parents traveling with their teenage son and their teenage daughter. Next, all three of these chalets were booked with four people per chalet. Keep this in mind when the dining space accommodated 2 people, the living space accommodated 3 people to sit at one time, the outdoor seating, provided two chairs per porch. No place for our family to come together and gather. After we requested more outdoor seating around a barbecue that was provided, additional chairs were brought out for outdoor seating. We asked about using the barbecue and was given permission to use the barbecue. We were informed that it did not come with briquettes, so we purchased a bag of wood briquettes for the barbecue. The barbecue rack was rusted and caked in old food and the bottom was filled with used briquettes and molding food. We cleaned the barbecue to be able to use it and proceeded with our evening. After the meal, we proceeded to put small pieces of wood in to keep the flame as we spent time together. This barbecue had the accommodation to have a small fire like this. The next day, we received a text message from Melissa informing us that we could not use the barbecue to have a general fire in. We had been there since Sunday and needed to dispose of trash and used towels. Also, we requested fresh towels for the next six days that we were there. We were told we could take our trash out to an outbuilding and we were informed by Melissa that we could not have any more towels as we were already adequately supplied these. Also, there were numerous maintenance issues. Also, look to book online, we were charged their full summer rate by booking directly. By my calculations, Alaskan Adventure Unlimited should refund us $120, since our family had to make other accommodations."
"We had a great stay here. Totally worth it as we had a family and would have needed to rent two hotel rooms. This way we had one place with a kitchen. Went shopping and cooked meals in the cabin. Staff was friendly. Check in and out was simple."
"AMAZING! I was actually blown away by how awesome the pricing was on top of being comfortable, spacious, clean, and blown away all in all about the whole set up of the place is, it's beautiful. Whoever designed or decorated these places deserves a high five and a pat on the back If I could give 10 stars I absolutely would recommend this place to any and everyone."
"You will not be disappointed with the little chalets. Is super comfy and relaxing. I would totally recommend this to a family or a couple looking for a romantic retreat. There's only three chalets. It's a small and quaint getaway. As of the reviews say they have everything packed in the fridge for a wonderful breakfast each morning of your stay. All of the things that you could possibly want to use in the bathroom such as shampoo, conditioner, soap, q-tips ... bath salts - you name it they thought of it. It's definitely a little bit of pampering out in the middle of the wilderness. I highly recommend Alaska Adventures Unlimited Chalets."
"Great condo-like cabin with comfy beds, great master bath with jetted tub, and full kitchen. They even left us a light breakfast with some eggs, bagels, and cereal with milk. It is a convenient location and quiet at night. The owner was very accommodating when I asked to move one of the nights due to an unexpected change in our travel. Definitely the nicest place we stayed in Alaska."
