"I recently went on the eagle photo tour in Haines Alaska . It was great fun and the photo ops were unbeatable. The trip was everything I hoped it would be! Our guide Carl offered a flexible agenda each day - it was relaxed and non regimented but well organized. This trip left me with super photos, and new friends. I highly recommend checking out a tour with Expeditions Alaska. There’s something for everyone."
"I joined a group of 5 amateur photographers to Brooks Falls on the "Fat Bears in the Fall" trip with Expeditions Alaska and we weren't disappointed. This occurs just after the lodge has closed for the season and the tourists are gone so, limited humans and loads of bears getting fat before hibernation. I looked at quite a few guided trips for this purpose and this one stood out as the best photography trip and I could see the detailed planning that Carl Donohue has put into it. Given my age (70) I was a bit nervous about being able to handle camping for 5 nights but it was a breeze. My tent was a good size (I could stand in the center) and the provided Exped sleeping mat was very comfortable. Rounding out our crew was Christie who cooked 3 great meals a day for us, more than I could eat, great variety and delicious. Carl took us out in the mornings and afternoon/evenings to a variety of places so we got to see a good amount of the park and falls with just the right amount of hiking. A bonus to the whole trip was Carl's personality and intellect. There was plenty of good-natured ribbing and laughter and I don't think I could find a topic that he wasn't knowledgeable about. He was also a great resource for photography advice. The organization of this trip spoke to his 20 or so years of guiding all over Alaska and elsewhere. I've been to many great places all over Earth and this was one of the best!"
"We were a group of 5 including our guide doing an 8 day backpacking plus 2 day packrafting in Arrigetch. The views were epic, both in good and mediocre weather and we rarely came across anyone else during the trip. The trip was well prepared, some proper hiking and bush whacking, we enjoyed tasty meals (not freeze dry) which we complemented with some self collected mushrooms and berries. Our guide Trevor was amazing, combining relevant experience with fun and friendly attitude and tons of hilarious „war stories“ from his previous trips. It is very much recommended to leave 1-2 extra days before your return flights - bush planes in bad weather / wild fires etc are completely unpredictable. Will definitely return to Alaska and join for another trip with this guys!"
"Backpacking and packrafting in the gates of the arctic (Arrigetch Peaks) – memories, I’ll cherish forever and can’t really be summed up in words. Varied terrain from bushwacking, muskeg and tussocks to boulders and fields above the trees. Phenomenal views leaving smiles for miles. Of course, Trevor, our fantastic guide/chef/entertainer, played a huge role in keeping those smiles. He knew the nicest spots to set up camp, made sure to keep us challenged, cooked great meals and was eager to find suitable day hikes for us. From the start, the experience with Expeditions Alaska has been great. Carl and his team answered all our questions, making sure we’re on the right trip based on wishes and experiences and supplied us with all the important information. I’ll be back."
"Our family had an incredible adventure with Expeditions Alaska. We were looking to go to Lake Clark and Wrangle-St. Elias National Parks and they made this custom trip happen. While the pre-trip planning was great and had me feeling comfortable that all the bases were covered, the trip itself was the beyond what I had imagined. Our guide was Christie and she made this trip absolutely amazing. She balanced all of our disparate food and activity preferences, had excellent knowledge and curiosity about the plants and wildlife we were seeing, kept the brain teasers coming, and helped us all feel at home in the backcountry. It turns out our trip included experiencing the Alaska that requires you to sign Weather Delay Acknowledgments. Christie's ability to keep all of our spirits up and maintain a sense of adventure while also clearly being prepared for the unexpected and clear-thinking about what needed to be done to maintain safety was nothing short of inspiring. Additionally, the weather delay led to a quick turn-around and replanning of part two of our trip. Whatever magic Christie and Carl used to rearrange plans in order to accommodate somewhat-weary travelers was appreciated and also speaks to the relationship they have with outfitters, pilots and other partners. We were able to explore Wrangle-St. Elias in a way that felt as though it had been planned from the beginning. Thank you for an amazing trip!"
