Tara Byrom, APRN-CNP

"Do you believe in fate ? Bare with me this goes with my review. All my school age kids see Dr Tara Byrom. It was honestly fate how that came to be. Several years ago my son 10, at the time had been hit in the face with a pool ball at church. Thats a story for another time. He had a follow up appt at OU clinic where we met Tara for the 1st time. I mentioned my son had frequent stomach pains. She didn't dismiss us like so many others. She didn't chalk it upto anxiety like those before her. She said " it'd been awhile since he's had any labs let's order some " that small thing saved my son's life. Those simple labs showed my son's A1C was slightly elevated. May not mean much to anyone but that eventually lead to a Type1 diabetes diagnosis. For most people they don't find out they have diabetes until 1) it's too late or 2) they're in a coma from being in DKA. She thought outside the box, listened, and was so proactive that his diabetes was caught early. He never went into DKA. He was able to get into a specialist ( also at OU shoutout to Dr Mercer we love you ! ) She saved my son's life. Of that I have no doubt. When I count my blessings I count Dr Tara Byrom twice ! My kids adore her. I absolutely love her. When you have state insurance you're used to getting frankly poor care. That's not the case here. You'd think we had top of the line health insurance. She doesn't treat you " less than " she genuinely cares. She knows each of my kids. Not as patients but as individuals. I am dreading the day they're grown for 2 reasons 1) my babies will be grown and 2) who will care for them like Tara does ? You just don't get that. If you have kids and you're looking for a new doctor don't look any further. This woman , I'm convinced hides her halo everyday. She is heaven sent. Back to that fate I was talking about. Had my son not broke his nose in church, had his normal dr been there that day we'd have never met Tara. Meaning we wouldn't have known about Aidens type 1 dx until it was too late. Fate. Heaven sent , angel on earth call it what you will. You won't convince me that she isn't heaven sent. I'm convinced angels walk among us and I believe Tara is one of them. You can't put a price tag on your child's life , she saved mine. I'll never be able to repay her for that. Seriously you want someone that will love your kids like their own see her. You won't find better care."
