"It will be almost two years (February of next year -2024) since my radical hysterectomy (removal of cervix, but retained ovaries) from HPV cervical lesions and it has been AWFUL! This review is more about the procedure than the doctor who performed it. (Not to mention it was absolutely hellacious trying to get a diagnosis ( went to three female gynos and other docs, before a male bladder doc swabbed my cervix and found dysplasia). This whole process took over a year! I spent so much energy just trying to figure out where the pain was coming from and what was causing it, meanwhile the " cancer" was getting worse. I was lead to Dr. Dirk and told I'd need a radical hysterectomy, with removal of ALL of the lymphs in my groin. I was also told, " I would be exactly the same post surgery, only I wouldn't be able to have children." I don't want children so this wasn't an issue. My experience has been completely contrary to that statement. I had severe brain fog, most likely from a prior Laparoscopy surgery for Endometriosis (3 weeks before) and pain from the lesions. (The laparoscopy was very helpful and reduced the pain load a lot). I feel now, had i been able to SEE, there is no way i would've chosen the hysterectomy! It has left me with nothing but grief, frustration and sadness! I wake up most days with a burning sensation in the vagina that is distracting and painful. I m not sure if its from nerve damage from the procedure, dryness or something worse? My vagina has dried up and you can imagine what this does to ones libido and sex life. The vagina is tight and traumatized and sex is painful and unpleasant! My abdomen is distended and inflamed most of the time, probably from the removal of the lymphs. I had a burning and discomfort with peeing for over a year (most likely from the Ureters tubes being cut in order to have access to the cervix.) MY BRAin doesn't function the same, and I feel very disconnected from my body and its rhythms. Also my intestinal tract is messed up. I really feel overwhelming upset about this decision most days that i have a hard time prioritizing and organizing my life. I'm starting to have inflammation in my brain that is concerning and I worry about prolapse and the tissues in the vagina. The only reason HPV is so rampant and an epidemic is because of the introduction of the HPV Vaccine that has suppressed certain strains and made others more viral and prolific, in the same way antibiotics have wreaked havoc. I've read that 1 in 5 hysterectomies are not needed and I implore anyone who is told this is there only option to do anything and everything in their power to avoid getting one, especially if they are young. ( Im 36 now/ had the surgery at 35,.) Allopathic medicine creates the problem and the "fix," which usually just leads to more problems. This statement doesn't really convey my incandescent rage in the way its meant to. In the past several months, I have outbursts of anger that are new to me and possibly a side effect of not having a cycle, which is processed by our liver. The liver is more than a filtering organ, is has profound emotional and spiritual benefits for the body, as all our organs do, and we shouldnt be removing our organs. I hope we look back in twenty years, or even sooner, and see how barbaric this practice is. My pre and post-surgery protocols were horrible- i was given an artillery load of laxative, the equivalent of rhino and not a person who at the time was 111 lbs. Went home had the worst, gripping abdomen pain and violent vomiting, this prior to the surgery and after the surgery, was starved ( because I hadn't pooped?) and left in the room under a A/C vent that shut my body down, because as you can imagine the thin hospital blankets didn't keep my emaciated body warm. ( I know I am ranting, but i absolutely need to let this out so I can hopefully let this go and move on.) Helpful tools: wild yam cream yoni stones yoni steaming castor oil pack and cupping on scar tissue The nurses did their best and Dr Dirk probably did his best too."
"Dr. Pikaart was my mom’s Gyn oncology doctor over 10 years ago, in 2013. He had the best bedside manner and generally cared for my mom."
"Dr Pikkart was awesome! I was referred to him in January, and he decided to do a complete hysterectomy on me a week ago. Him and his staff were very caring, attentive, and went out of their way to make sure everything was OK. I went back today for a follow up visit and I had nothing but good news. If you’re looking for a cancer OB/GYN he’s the way to go. I would recommend him for anyone. Thank you for all the care that you gave."
"I have the BRAC1 Gene Mutation and I am scheduling after seeing Dr. Pikaart a couple of times, a necessary surgery. He is hands down one of the nicest, and most caring Doctors I have ever had caring for me! I have heard from some of my other Specialists, as well as another patient that he is the best, and from how he has treated me and his concern (as well as his staff's kindness), I have to agree, wholeheartedly! If you need his care, you will truly be lucky to get him! I cannot recommend him enough!"
"I was referred to Dr. Pikaart after asking for a second opinion from my previous doctor whom with I had lost all confidence. I am so glad I was referred here! He has a quiet, confident, reassuring manner that I felt totally comfortable with. He told me "I got this" and he did. Proved to be an excellent surgeon with an excellent team."
