"Hey, I haven't moved into the lodge yet, and I'm in the last steps of finishing everything I need. However, contacting the people at the lodge seems impossible. I've tried both numbers they provided, one on their website and one posted here, but it always goes to voicemail immediately, regardless of the time I call—be it 8 am, 10 am, noon, or even 3 pm. No one is ever there to answer. Even when I use their email to contact them, I barely hear back. For an apartment complex not to answer phone calls and dodge people trying to move in is completely absurd to me. It seems like they respond more frequently to Google reviews than to people trying to contact them. The only response I received was from an email they never listed as theirs. Interestingly, I would call the lodge right after this person emails me, and they still wouldn't answer. I can't believe how people actually living there must feel. It must be horrifying when the landlord doesn't answer your calls. Working for an apartment complex where people live and others want to move in, not answering calls is unacceptable. People have questions and concerns, and if you're not there to answer them, everything will eventually go downhill. Unfortunately, I can't stop by and talk to them because I currently live out of state. But, From everything I've said, I'm not trying to deter people from renting. I've seen a lot of reviews that seem absolutely crazy and dosen't seem fair to the lodge. It seems like alot of pepole are giving them a low review But realistically it's out of their hands. I won't give examples at the moment, but I feel like half of the negative reviews are very petty and come from people renting for the first time or not thoroughly reading the contract. They get upset because something doesn't favor them. I do believe that if there was more communication between tenants and the housing department, things would go smoother. However, I can't say for sure yet. Now, I want everyone to be vigilant that's moving in or planing to it's going to be a very hard and tedious process. Don't expect it to be a smooth process. I will keep you guys updated after I move in and let you know what I see."
"My daughter loves this place. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because the stairwell is kind of stinky (it is college housing however), and the pool was broken for a while last summer, and the decks are a little worn out. But the rest of the common areas are very nice and her apartment was very clean when she moved in. As a co-signer, I love that they are very good communicating via email to both me and my daughter so I know what's going on. She's already re-signed her lease for next year."
"DO NOT ALLOW YOUR CHILD TO SIGN A LEASE WITH THIS COMPLEX! You would think that as a 'student housing option', they would have flexibility built into their lease structure with early termination options. They do not have these protections built in, nor do they help get the rooms rented when your student has a need to move (regardless of the reason - graduation, enrollment drop, roommate DIED!). My son got conned into signing a year lease when he originally asked for a six month agreement (signed in August, graduating in December) with the promise of "if you move when you graduate, we will have no trouble finding a replacement." Lo and behold, they have 50 rooms available, so this was an outright lie to trick a 22 year old kid with no contracts experience into a bad deal. They also claim to be 'exempt' from fair housing laws, so you can expect discrimination if you don't fit their mold of a 'good tenant'. We were told that if they deemed a student 'too old or not a good fit', they could deny our backfill. It is shocking that UCCS would allow themselves to be affiliated with a privately held company that clearly has more interest in lining their owners' pockets with student loan money than they do in actually providing a safe, clean environment for students to live. 0 stars - do not recommend. RUN AWAY!"
"The rent is a great price given the current economy, but you would be better off renting a house with friends and splitting the cost. They claim that the safety of their residents are their top priority, but the doors to the apartment buildings don’t lock so anyone can come in and have access to the building. The doors have not locked, to my knowledge, since this past spring and when I asked when they would be fixed I was told sometime next spring before my lease is up. They charge a $200 administration fee to switch rooms, but the administration fee when you initially sign up for the lease is $150. The front office misinform residents often. They also won’t let you move into your apartment on Aug 1st and have you pay for the full month of August instead of prorating the fee (which is illegal according to Colorado Law). This place is definitely a scam trying to take advantage of young college kids. 0/10 would not recommend."
"I would never recommend this place for any students, security is terrible, the response time and getting back with students is awful, if student feel threatened management doesn't respond. They are terrible when moving out and charging fairly on which roommate is responsible for damage and not working with students/roommates and moving them out if not a good fit or have one has pet and has to stay in that apartment as well as charge all roommates for pet damage even though they didn't have a pet. The moving is process is not good either as they tell you one thing and the apartment wasn't cleaned and no AC for over two month even though they kept saying they would fix it. The apartment was dirty was my daughter moved it. I would never recommend this place for students."
