Moe's Original BBQ - Lakewood

"Came here on Saturday around 12:15p to meet up with a buddy, brought my wife and kids. My wife and I got beef brisket sandwiches with potato salad and beans as the side, I didn't see fries on the 'Sides' portion of the menu. But my buddy got fries, and I was bummed. Gotta say the brisket slices weren't very much in quantity as you'd expect for a sandwich like this. And that was for everyone's meal. Super fatty too. Was choking down the last several bites. Kids food was chicken fingers, and wings. Didn't look too special. But they liked it. There wasn't really anywhere for the five of us to sit at that time, so we had to sit outside. Wasn't too bad of a day, maybe 61. But would've rather sat inside. Can't fault them for that. Kitchen staff seamed on point calling out orders pretty professionally. No lids or straws on hand for customers if you're ready to take your drink to go. You have to ask them for it. I love a BBQ place and this was my first time visiting a Moe's. I think for the price, you should have a heftier sandwich. 3 little strips just doesn't do it on a hamburger bun. Plus you have to add the BBQ sauce. I probably won't be back, sad to say, I spent $56 bucks for My wife and kids and I. Was just hoping for a wow experience. Left us all leaving alot to be desired."

"We got takeout. Good size portions, 2 sides (LOVE the baked beans and collard greens!) and cornbread included with platters. If they have the gumbo available as a side, I strongly suggest getting the large portion! You'll be glad you did! Really meaty and flavorful. Friendly, fast service, and you can order online for pickup or delivery. Free parking. Outside patio that's dog-friendly too."

"My hat goes off to the young man who took my order. He did an excellent job trying to get answers for my allergy from the kitchen staff and manager. I was assured that I would be fine and they would take care of me. It went downhill very quickly from there. I placed my order and waited for my food. A blonde lady brought my tray, and immediately, I saw cornbread next to my chicken. I asked if the cornbread was gluten-free? She didn't know even though she worked in the kitchen. She went to find out and came back to say no, it has wheat in it. I told her to please take it back, for I'm allergic to wheat. She just grabbed the cornbread off the plate with her bare hands that were touching the chicken. Fiesr thought was how dirty her hands were and if she washed them. Second, the thought was that the chicken was cross contaminated. I looked at my food, and I was confused because in the South bbq, chicken was pulled, not on the bone. I took a biology class years ago that I learned all the bones and muscles and ever sense can't touch meat on the bone, so that was out. I got baked beans, which were nice and warm, so I ate them first. The Coleslaw was nothing but strips of lettuce and no flavoring and very dry. Maybe a little lemon juice on it. That was very disappointing because again in the south there is maynaise, pickle juice etc and messy but good. I couldn't eat the Coleslaw. The only thing left was the chicken. I grabbed a small piece that wasn't cross-contaminated and bit in. The meat was ice cold. I was already grossed out by chicken on the bone but cold? I was done at this point with this restaurant and meal. I walked out upset , hungry, and pissed out. I had to pay for a second meal. Would I recommend this restaurant? Absolutely not! Would I return? Absolutely no! If you have a gluten allergy or celiac disease stay far away from this restaurant and chain I found out. To the manager/ owner that was there who paid little to no attention to his staff member trying to get info for me on if I could eat there or not should have stepped in and took care of it instead of walking off ignoring me and them. That's bad customer service."

"Combining the first and second time having Moe's, I'm digging this place. Kinda seemed short staffed due to the holidays but they were making it work. I love the brisket, kinda wished I had more with the Mac n cheese but it is what it is. Last time I came here I had their wings and that just seemed .... bland. Unsure how they could improve but that was just my observation. The cornbread absolutely slaps. Def worth a visit overall if in the neighborhood."

"The brisket at Moe's was amazing! It was incredibly tender. The fries were seasoned perfectly and the cornbread had little pieces of jalapenos in it. Would definitely return!"
