Hits The Spot Diner

"Hits the Spot Diner is a good place for great tasting diner fare. The place could use a face lift... it's looking kind of old and sad, but the food is spot on. I had the chicken fried steak skillet. Gravy and plenty of it covering two eggs, the aforementioned steak and home fries, all excellent. My other half had French toast, also very good!! The service was good, not great... but definitely friendly. They are always busy, with a wait time for peak hours... but if you want good food, you're willing to wait!!"

"When it's packed here, the parking is crazy. Came for a late lunch, and though the breakfast did look delicious and was a huge portion, I wanted to get some classic diner food. I really wanted a burger but did not see a turkey burger on the menu. There weren't many none beef/pork options available (other than salads) so I ended up with chicken tenders. They were very good. I would recommend if you live in the area and have not been."

"Hits the Spot lives up to its name with it’s big portions and tasty diner eats. Was really impressed by the chile relleno plate, green chile was smokin! The breakfast plates were also good, with no item being an afterthought, all were delicious. The place was packed on a Sunday morning so had to wait but the staff did a good job serving everyone without rushing anybody out the door. Well done! The restaurant itself took over an older building which actually gives it a cool retro vibe on decaying stretch of W. Colfax."

"This is one of the best down home diners in the city in my opinion! I have been coming to Hits the Spot Diner for over a decade and have never been disappointed. The service is always friendly and attentive and the food is delicious, plentiful, and affordable. This is a great place for breakfast or lunch with friends or family. There is a great variety and has options for anyone including vegetarian dishes and great kids options."

"Seen this little place in my travels and decided to give it a whirl! Parking here is ample, parking down both sides and in the back is available. You walk in and seat yourself with table service here and pay your server when done. I was greeted promptly and found a seat, and my server came working 3 min of seating down and brought a menu and took my drink order. Breakfast is served here all day. So I ordered a hamburger steak, 8 oz, with eggs and potatoes and biscuit and gravy. The potatoes are like modified home fries and seasoned very well! Very tasty they were. Eggs were cooked to my order, and the hamburger steak is ample. It could have used a little seasoning. The biscuit and gravy were very good as well. All in all, 2 thumbs up on this little nostalgic diner. If your in the area, this one shouldn't disappoint. Give them a shot. My server Michelle never let my drinks become empty."
