"I regret that Zero Stars is not an option. I initially responded to a retirement program advertisement via Facebook and a rep from Bankers Life /Colorado contacted me with a follow-up phone call to set an appointment. We set the date and time up for a week in advance and agreed to meet at Starbucks today at 11:30 am. (The initial request had been to meet in my home, which I declined.) The rep confirmed the Starbucks morning appointment during our initial conversation and by text shortly after with an additional request to again confirm the appointment date and time by text. I followed the prompts and responded positively. This morning, prior to the scheduled appointment, the rep called me by phone to confirm our appointment and I responded that I was looking forward to our meeting. The rep (“Ivy”) again mentioned that another employee would accompany her for our meeting for training purposes, which was fine. Everything sounded legit. I arrived early and waited, but no one bothered to show up. I spoke to several females seated inside and outside the Starbucks, but no “Ivy” was present. As I was finally leaving my phone rang and a guy asked my name and if I had been expecting Ivy. I explained she hadn’t not shown up and that I’d already given up and was leaving. He said could eventually meet me later, but he was in downtown Denver and would need another 30-45 minutes to get to Starbucks. Or I could reschedule. Seriously? No thanks. The entire scenario seemed extremely sketchy. Why would someone call right before a meeting that they had no intention of keeping? The guy said there were family issues. And couldn’t she have called to reschedule instead of sending me out to a no-show meeting? With no phone text or response? Maybe they only want meetings in a person’s home which also sounds sketchy with two people visiting one senior at once? Is this a pressure tactic? Or just a total scam? Ivy eventually called back after my frustrated call-in message. Her explanation for not showing up was that she had told me that Austin would be joining her. Yes, she’d mentioned that, but not that she had no plans to show up or that Austin wouldn’t be there either. What a farce! Whatever BLC’s deal is, my recommendation is if you get a call from this group, just hang up and block as SCAM. Whatever they’re selling is sketchy at best and if this is how they ‘start’ a business/investment relationship, don’t waste your time. The online search I conducted on my car after this very negative experience says Colorado Bankers Life is in liquidation as of last December, 2022. More Huge Red Flags! Hang up & Don’t get scammed. 8-17-23"
