"My review has been changed from its original post. The third week I was in my apartment I decided to use my fireplace. I had been told it was a working fireplace. I've had fireplaces in the past and wood-burning stoves too, I know all about flue, etc. (Later it was noted by another tenant that they have many raccoon problems in many of the chimneys). Using my fireplace started a back draft SMOKE fire in my apt. It was a 6-alarm fire engine, police cars, and an ambulance. They would accept no responsibility for it, saying that I 'obviously didn't understand how the flue worked'. I offered them to come to test it themselves and of course, they declined, on offering me their iron-clad leases understanding that ANYTHING happening in/above/below my apartment was NOT any of their responsibility. No compensation for the $$$ out of pocket (their comments, "that's what renters insurance is for") expenses for smoke damage. When I wrote my original review I was far too forgiving for that. So, now I've moved out I've felt brave enough to share the real experience. I was told when I rented that my building was a non-smoking building, but many people smoked on my floor, legal stuff or not, and one neighbor smoked very stinky cigars. They said they couldn't stop those people. On the positive side... I never heard my neighbors, my utility bills were low since the building is very well-insulated. I never saw a bug. My apartment was not updated, but I thought that it was reflected in the rent costs (it turns out I was wrong). I was the only person I knew who got their deposit back, it might help that I left it cleaner than it was when I moved in. If you can be in the 'high-rise', #2407, it's the only building of their 22 that has underground parking (at an additional cost) and elevators, for 3 flights of stairs, then it's most certainly a bonus. The pool is a highlight, if that is important to you, although in the last 2 years I was there there were too many problems with other tenants and they'd close the pool for everybody, UNFAIR. But it usually looked great. So, I hope that helps someone. One thing that showed up more over time was the low maintenance of the building and stairways, and in general, the whole complex, they stopped repairs of hall doors, stairways, light bulbs, and much more. The basement parking area is dirty - I often swept my bay or threw buckets of disinfectant on 'piss' corners near my elevator. They had no compassion/responsibility for any theft your bay, or from your vehicle, or the vehicle itself. There are no security cameras anywhere. Sadly, anyone I spoke to living there always had very negative experiences to share. Many stories shocked me, but I can't tell those, they are not my story, but they were really horrible stories. Buyer Beware. In the end, I moved to a New complex. I move out of a building built in the 70s, into a building built 7 years ago. Out of a building with no security into a building with LOTS of security. From no walk-in closet, to a large walk-in, to no laundry in my apartment, to a large laundry room in my apt with lots of storage. From 1 bedroom, 1 bath to moving into 2 bedroom. 2 baths From no exercise equipment in my building, to exercise equipment in my building. I'd guess my new apartment, approx double the square ft, which is up-to-date, has new beautiful carpets, freshly painted walls, no popcorn ceiling, is extremely utility efficient, totally well maintained, and extremely well cared for, best, costs way LESS than what I was paying to Windsor for much less. Thjere isn't a pool where I am, but I'll live! Finally, to end well, the walking/fishing and bike trails are two minutes away, and it's very convenient within minutes to stores, as well as easy access to Highways and the airport. It is nestled into woods, though much of them have not been cleared up from Derecho. My advice is to shop around before renting. There are better places and value for money."
"I have been in the complex about 4 months. First impressions of apartment living here is ok. Neighborhood like surroundings with big trees and rolling hills. Apartment is a bit dated in carpets, blinds, and such, but functional. I live near clubhouse which has a great pool for the summer. Off-street parking is a bit tough; I have seen two vehicles that are in the lot that haven't been moved since I've been there. Probably abandoned. Responses to maintenance is the most disappointing. Averaging 2-3 weeks for remedies, and there is no correspondence for to anticipate work to be completed. I usually have to contact office to initiate activity and urgency. My AC unit has been out since 9/25/2023 and still no work completed. I hope it works come Spring next year!! Overall, pretty average. Good value for the money but be patient on repairs."
"We just moved in about two weeks ago. So far we have absolutely been loving our new apartment. We love the trees and the surrounding lake/river/parks/boat homes. Can't wait to see the surrounding area in Autumn. Chelsea in the office has been very accommodating to our needs and our wants and was prompt with questions and inquiries. Building we live in is very pet friendly and our neighbors welcomed us which was very nice. Felt like a community. Definitely would recommend moving here! I hope we continue to love living at Windsor!"
"Okay, let me start off this review with I don’t hate this place, it just needs A LOT of work and improvement. So, me and the other person I live with have been at Windsor on the river for about a little bit over a year. When we first got our tour of this place before we moved in last time we loved it, the management was actually really good and the area was beautiful. Unfortunately the management left and we had a new management. They were good too and I believe they were the one who did a few renovations on the pool and gym, it was really nice. Later on to now, new management. Don’t even get me started on how bad this places management is now. They don’t do anything about any problems this place is having. One big thing that is really getting on my nerves is that the pool isn’t working and it’s summer, the pool hasn’t been working for about a few months now and we’re absolutely disappointed about the pool. The pool is literally green, bright gross green. The tennis court is falling apart and is just going downhill. The only good thing here is the area and gym, the apartments are actually pretty nice too. Now I know if I get a response from Windsor all they will send is their stupid pre made message they send to everyone but if it’s one thing I can say about this place is DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY HERE or at least until they get new management because they don’t care about anyone or anything here. It’s absolutely ridiculous."
