The Hotel at Kirkwood Center

"Its in a newly developed area so you had to drive 20 minutes to get some place for food or groceries. 10 minutes for a quick shop. Very contemporary and elegant inside has a restaurant but pricey .I heard that the bar makes amazing mixed drinks."

"We just had our wedding there this last weekend. We moved venues to the hotel due to convenience for guests and the fact that the hotel had staff that does all the coordinating/planning for you. With us being over 2 hours away, this was a huge benefit. Ande and Melissa were our contacts and Ande took charge of everything. She handled many details that we would have never thought of. First off, the location to me is more ideal than downtown. We originally planned for guests to stay at the Hilton. So glad we didn't. This hotel has a nice large parking lot and is relatively close to the airport. We had many family members fly directly to Cedar Rapids and the hotel shuttle picked them up. Rooms were very modern and clean. Beds were comfortable. The location, though not downtown, is very nice for noise levels. It was so quiet at night compared to when we stayed downtown and heard traffic and trains all night. The space for the reception was very customizable based on size. It worked well for our 7 piece band and approximately 85 guests. The atrium was a very nice area to have the ceremony with all of the natural light. Speaking of light, our photographer was more than excited about the lighting in the hotel for pictures. All of the staff were pleasant and I mean ALL. We were treated like VIP's and they were very attentive to our needs. The hotel restaurant was nice and the food was great. They could use a few more options for breakfast but what they have was delicious. Their lobby has a bar and a very wide open space with plenty of seating that we all took advantage of the night before the wedding. Overall, if you're thinking of an indoor wedding and want to have everything in one spot. I HIGHLY recommend the Hotel @ Kirkwood."

"What a unique and interesting hotel. It’s very clean and sharp looking. Check in was good with friendly service. Beds are very comfortable and rooms are spacious with large windows. Hotel is connected to the culinary school and they also run the restaurant. Quality of food was very good, just needed a bit more seasoning on everything. A touch of salt and pepper would have put it to the next level. Service in the restaurant was a bit slow but not bad. Definitely worth a stay if you are in the area or even check out the restaurant."

The entire staff, from the front desk to the restaurant staff went far beyond every day to make sure our stay was exceptional. "Attended a seminar during morning hours. The lobby and greeting area was very well staged with fresh pastries, fresh coffee and other foods and drinks. The restrooms where very clean and modern. The meeting rooms where appropriate sized. Comfortable seating with tables. The audio visual aids helped the presentation flow perfectly. Parking was available, close to entrance and safe."
