Broadway Apartments

"We have really enjoyed living at Broadway Apartments from the modern look of the grey walls to the tall ceilings to the granite countertops. Heather has been the glue in keeping our experience positive. We’ve had an issue with neighbors playing loud music late at night and a dog from the other apartments being let off its leash. Heather immediately addressed these situations and handled them to our satisfaction. You can tell she really cares about her tenants and goes above and beyond if possible."

"My boyfriend and I moved in last August (2023), as we were looking for somewhere closer to where he works, and for me to attend school in the area. Ever since move in, Heather has been a delight to work with and just have a nice chat! She is very receptive to any issues you come to her with, and trust that when a maintenance request is filed, it is attended to within a timely manner (ex. we had an issue with one of our toilets, and we had a maintenance man fixing it a few hours after letting her know). She also made sure we had everything we needed before moving in so we were ready to go, such as putting in brand new carpet due to my dog/cat allergy, as this is a pet friendly complex. We love our apartment itself, and have enjoyed getting to know some of our neighbors in passing. We enjoy the gym onsite as well, it's definitely nice to not have to pay extra for a gym membership elsewhere. I feel that the building itself is safe, we haven't experienced any issues, and it's nice and quiet tucked back into the business park. Overall, I would definitely recommend Broadway Apartments to anyone looking to move to the Des Moines/Altoona area!"

"I would not recommend living here for multiple reasons. 1) it is hard to get a maintenance request completed. I’ve put many maintenance request in and the majority of the time it’s not completed the first time or they refuse to complete it. The last month of my lease my microwave broke, and my dishwasher was not drying and I was told it would not be fixed till my lease was over.. So I had to physically tape my microwave handle back on so that I could use it. 2) this apartment complex went through five different managers in my year of living there. This apartment complex cannot hold a manager longer than 3 to 4 months from what I’ve observed. 3) lastly, they swindle you out of money on your last months rent instead of being prorated to the day that your contract is signed they tell you that you owe the entire months rent, even if your contract ends in the beginning of the month. So be aware that you will not pay for the amount of time that you actually live there. You also give extra money to the apartment complex for you not to live there and for someone else to move in so they’re not only getting money from you, but they’re also getting the prorated rent that someone pays to start living in your unit so they’re double dipping on the amount of money they get at someone’s end of lease and beginning of lease for each unit unless they’re unable to rent it out right after I wanted to write all of this to warn people of all of these items, because I was not a made aware of many of them. Especially the one where you have to pay an entire months rent at the end of the lease instead of being prorated for the days that are left on your contract. Hopefully this helps you choose where you would like to live in the future."

"I have been here for 5 months. It was the greatest when I moved in. If there was a problem I put in a request and it was taken care of. If it wasn't Heather made sure it was. Then she was moved and a couple came in. I'm not sure how they were chosen but for this community they're not working. I've complained about different things: kids that don't live in these apartments run all over. Through buildings and terrorize the renters. Everything is take a picture. I wasn't getting any emails or texts. I was told to check the portal it must not be in there. I pay my rent I know it's in there. I am very disappointed right now but I enjoy my apartment.
