"If you have a family member in need of a social worker for discharge planning at iowa methodist, and you are assigned Esther Walsh in Powell, please beg for a new worker. She is ineffective and unhelpful and also condescending and does not do her job.She has made a heartbreaking situation so much more stressful by not providing any support to the patient or family of the patient."
"Horrible. Couldn't walk. Waited 9.5 hours in the waiting room where they did vitals etc and finally they took me back did a CT scan because we already have 6 x-rays and left the same way I went in. Not walking and they threw narcort on my lap and exit papers sent a internal doctor in because they had to have a doctor talk to you before you leave. He apologized and said you should get a mri as soon as possible. We'll I did and I had a broken sacral..which is the piece below the spine and a hematoma on the pelvic wall at the groin area. Than charged my insurance 8 thousand dollars for doing nothing my pain was enormous for 3 full weeks of barley making it to the restroom. Rebel red the man nurse or whatever he was slapped my hand down said relax and this won't be so bad. What a jerk..the whole incident was most disturbing and disgusting"
"I beg people to consider a different hospital. This is THE WORST hospital in Des Moines. If vet clinics could take care of humans I’d chose that before. Be prepared to wait for hours and watch people go back who came in 3-4 hours after you. The triag nurses are just powertrippers. I tried leaving this place with a broken back and mangled arm because I so badly didn’t want to be in their care."
"I just got home yesterday after having a triple bypass surgery. I managed to go home just one week after the surgery, and I am 70 years old. The people that took care of me after my surgery are incredible. I'm not going to tell you that it was an experience I would want to do again. At one point after the operation, I wasn't sure I wanted to wake up. The pain was more than I could take. At least I thought so. But they young woman that stayed by my side on the first night managed to convince me to not give up. She brought me back from a very dark place. She is incredible. I owe her my life. Her name is Tonto. That's not her real name, but she started a game with me to keep my mind off of the pain. The doctors do the operating, but the nurses keep you alive. Many thanks to all the nurses out there that don't get the recognition that they deserve. And wherever you are Tonto, I will always remember you. I wish you the best."
"Sent to the ER by the walk in clinic for an emergent CT scan. Didn’t wait long and the ER nurse was great. Was diagnosed by the ER doctor and radiologist with a large hernia and needed to see a surgeon. Both of these men read my scan and agreed the large lump on my abdomen was a hernia. Gave me the number to a surgeon who i saw today and he said “ I’m confused at this diagnosis because you don’t have a hernia”. Pretty scary when there is a misdiagnosis delaying treatment. Yet they called me the next day asking me to pay what my insurance doesn’t."
