"No services, no grass, just a place to park your car and put in, or fish off the banks in mid to late summer when water levels are lower. Not sure it's meant to be anything else, but it would be nice to see a little care put into the space. A strip of grass, a couple benches, and a trash can?"
"Huge potential if the city invested in some trees and very basic improvements. As is, a grimy uninviting boat launch with no shade or reason to otherwise go there. However, if the city invested a bit, this could be an awesome riverside park."
"I have enjoyed the time I have spent here this year. I was Taken by the rivers view the wildlife the canoe kayak and Fishing boats. Fisherman come and fish almost daily. Across riverside drive is the Iowa City Airport. It is quite busy. Flights and lessons in flying I suppose. The planes come in so low you think you could touch them. The Hawkeyes Chopper is over in the U of I bunker and can be seen often. Go Hawks. I have picked up all the trash over this summer. There is a barrier between Iowa City Parks and Recreation & Johnson County Conservation Board. I did find someone who was able to get a contractor bag off to the landfill.. Both have opted for the other to replace the gravel. Maybe top it off with a nice mix of river rock. City says it is not a paved park. Of course not. Who wants a pavement. The edge though Riverside Drive... gaping holes and bumps to any vehicle or boat trailer. I created (always room for improvement)a stone fire ring for cooking fresh coffee even a breakfast or two. I've had The Fire Department and the County and Local Sheriff and Police come. They all were very nice and approved and appreciated the way I have made it safely crafted and I have promised them that the fire would always be doused with water. It's the Right thing to do. I would hope anyone who will use it knows the rules. The Rules of the Park are stated on the signs. There's a Prairie in progress Sturgis Ferry Boat ramp to the river its edge and its beautiful place. I would like to see replace the picnic table. Take out what you take in. The park is not a dump site. Nor should it ever be. Thanks to everyone who comes here. Sue&Bear's Adventure 2021"
"Easy access to float the river to Hills access. Took about 5 hours. (non drought/flood water level)"
"This park is a large gravel parking lot with a boat ramp. There is nothing fun about this park, but it offers the first public river access below the Burlington street dam. For a ~4hr canoe or kayak trip, put in here and paddle down to Hills. Special features: River access Play equipment: None Amenities: Parking: large gravel lot On-site water: no, just the river On-site bathroom: no"
