"Went there this morning with 2 boxes. Never got in the door. I had vintage Pyrex with lids. Was 7 minutes before opening. Sitting in the parking lot and owner came out and never even looked at anything. Told us basically to take it to goodwill. Without looking at anything. I would not consign there or shop there. Rude and seriously another consignment store in town was thrilled to have my stuff. All vintage. Would not recommend."
"Rude staff, broken items cleverly concealed to appear functional, absurd return policy for 'store credit' (only redeemable on day of return). Worst second hand store in IC - visit Goodwill, Salvation Army, Crowded Closet, Stuff Etc, Second Act instead."
"I am so bummed. I’ve shopped at Houseworks for the last 15 years. My tween likes thrifting so we went to stop by. No kids allowed under age 16. Can they ban whole groups of people like that based on one identifiable feature? I’m a mom, I guess Houseworks also doesn’t want moms supporting their business."
"Nice older man helped make my first visit very enjoyable. Very reasonable prices and will be returning. They don't require masks after 1:00pm, so just go after that time if that's an issue for you."
"I’ve lived in this area my whole life and been to this store a couple times; you can sometimes find decent details on kitchenware which is why I go. However after every visit I’m always wary of going back. Today was definitely my last visit. Every time I go the same woman is working, and she is incredibly rude (even to people just browsing). Today my mom picked up a sealed box just to see it, and she screamed at her from across the store for a solid minute and a half about how she wasn’t allowed to do that and she had to bring it directly up to the counter if she wanted to examine the box. When we were ready to check out, my mom had found a picture frame she really wanted. We didn’t realize until getting up to the counter, but the frame was a little broken (a single nail would have fixed it). The exchange went something like this: Mom: oh, looks like the frame is a little damaged. Sales woman: (immediately snatched the frame and scolds) we don’t sell broken merchandise! Mom: are you allowed to just sell it slightly discounted? Sales woman: absolutely not, we won’t sell it to you. Mom: what are you going to do with it? Sales woman: I will just put a nail in it and resell it. Mom: if that’s all I am going to do with it can I purchase it? Sales woman: (practically screaming) we won’t sell broken merchandise, if you wanted it so bad then maybe you shouldn’t have said anything about it! I have worked retail and customer service for three years and would never DREAM of treating a customer so poorly. Please trust me when I say, any discount you could get here is not worth the rudeness, screaming, and public humiliation. Just spend your money elsewhere."
