"Wish there could be less than 1 star. The elderly owner is clearly incompetent and argumentative even when you provide him documentation such as receipts and text messages, descriptions of his employees to include their names and physical attributes, and the day you interacted with them. This isn't our first rodeo...our 4 boys play 6 different instruments, 2-3 each. We couldn't even get our youngest three boys to their first lessons with this company due to the owner's inability to write down our start dates, not just correctly...I mean, at all. He blames everyone else for his incompetence, including his own computer program. After an hour long talk three weeks ago about our plans and details, he forgot everything we discussed. He then proceeded to leave an aggressive voice-mail admonishing us for not showing up when we informed him for three weeks we would be out of state until after the first week of August. We even took the initiative to text the instructors beforehand to ensure they knew, and they each approved of our 2nd week of August start date. Upon returning the call with a polite recount of when we agreed to start lessons and why we couldnt attend before the end of our cross-country trip, we couldn't get a word in edgewise before the owner became defensive and aggressive. He didn't attempt a resolution, he threw his "thousands" of students in our face, and swore his instructors were also on his side about the confusion. When I informed him I had texts and could provide him screenshots of the texts, he refused to acknowledge them, stating he doesn't believe they are real. I then asked him why it would be true for the piano instructor, who he did acknowledge knew we couldn't start due to our travel plans, but not for the guitar and trumpet instructors? At that point he ignored the question and he demanded a card be placed on file over the phone (which I had done in person previously with his employee, but they miraculously lost our initial registration for all 4 boys and fees) to charge us for the "missed" sessions. I informed him I would place the card on file again when we were there in person, and could put everything in writing. He rudely informed me "they don't put anything in writing" which is probably why he can't keep track of anything. It truly killed me, right after that statement, he said he had text messages to prove I was wrong...to which I asked, you mean to say you have it in writing? He got real ugly then, at which point I realized no matter how much "evidence" I could bring to show him of his mistake, he is not the kind of person I want my children exposed to, and terminated our intent to patronize his establishment. Mr. James may have very talented instructors, we will never know, because I cannot in good faith utilize or recommend a company whose owner is incompetent, aggressive, and does not put his customer and their children above his own ego."
"The manager, Jim, at this location is condescending and rude. He would not honor the Groupon because he doesn’t know how to read the fine print. Or he doesn’t understand what it means. So sad that he manages a place and they are so desperate for clients.. I wonder why!"
"I have been doing business at this location for about 20 years. I have purchased many products from him and would highly recommend this store to anybody who needs a place to do business with. Always treated with courtesy and respect promptly served and gotten the best advice whenever I had a question"
"After wondering for an hour why my once beautiful sounding guitar now sounded TERRIBLE! My fingers were covered with black smudge!! They put on old used strings. As a guitar player for many years that shouldn't happen.. When I dropped my guitar off for repairs and they said i needed strings. I bought a BRAND NEW unopened packet in store for them to put on..not dirty strings. This is the second time it has happened... On top of that I was not notified that they were going to take my guitar to another store to do repairs. If you take a customer's item out of the store we should at least be notified to give consent. I would have brought my case to keep it safe during travel.. Instead they call asking me to pick up at a different store location. Lastly, the younger gentleman that helped at first seemed very nice, but the manager, an older guy, started getting mad an very rude towards his employee for accidently putting in the wrong charge. Doust matter that he was getting annoyed by me for asking questions as a customer. I have tough skin...but at least treat your employees with kindness and respect. Either help your employee or Wait till your customers leave if you need to have a more stern talk with them. Overall family music center not very 'family friendly'!"
"My Guitar teacher was great but everyone at the front desk is rude, doesn’t listen and don’t handle things correctly. I lost my job so I needed to cancel my account until further notice. Which when I signed up they said I could cancel anytime. So when I knew I wasn’t going to be able to pay for the classes I called to do so with was towards the end of August. They charged me the month of September, which I didn’t make a big deal about it, I just asked if they could just leave it on my account as credit, they agreed. It’s October 4th and I’ve been charged, AGAIN! Which now my account has been over drafted. They’ve changed me $270 and I now owe money to my bank, when I called James legit said, “there’s nothing I can do”. Really? I’m now working again and was going to start going back again but not with people who aren’t willing to work with you."
