"I do not recommend living here if you can avoid it... I understand that with apartment living you need to be able to put up with a bit of noise from your neighbors, but recently apartment management has decided to install hard wood floors in buildings that were not designed for hard wood flooring. I could literally count every single step my upstairs neighbors took. They have received countless complaints from tenants and yet they continue to install hardwood floors in the apartments that are quickly being vacated, hmmm i wonder why? Perhaps the noise isnt so bad if you get a 3rd floor apartment, but good luck getting through the summer without air conditioning. Looking back on it, i cant believe i stayed in that place as long as i did."

"I would avoid this place unless you are desperate for housing in Truckee/Northstar region. The price is relatively standard for this location ($1000-1600 depending on # rooms) and the security is a full months rent. The tenants are a mediocre variety of pot smoking loud and annoying college kids and some well rounded families thrown in, but the lease can be a huge frustration and the management is very unhelpful and judgemental. I stayed a full 12 months at this complex and it was generally pleasant until I tried to add a 3rd roommate to our 4 bedroom unit. When we had issues with the roommate the management literally could not help. The primary property manager told me to my face that he could squat in my unit if he wanted to and there was nothing they could do to help other than file a formal complaint which could take long periods of time to process. Eventually my roommate issue was dealt with (Not an easy task, the cops had to be called once) I was left to pay a majority of the rent for the remaining months. When we moved out and the inspection was complete we were given a fee for cleaning. My roommate called ahead and convinced the management that I was the one who left the mess and that I should have to pay the whole fee with my half of the security deposit (It was a personal matter that I did not want to discuss with people who are not my friends). The property manager then proceeded to harasses me via email and phone, including several insults about the "disgusting" and "filthy" (she wasn't wrong) apartment and attempted to coax me into paying the fees with my half of the deposit to clean up what was not my mess. It was NOT her job to determine who made the mess, it was her job to finalize the 'account' and send out our security deposit checks. She also threatened to give me a bad "recommendation". I don't care. This wasn't the first time the property management either spoke about me inappropriately or about someone else to me with information that should have just been kept to themselves. I strongly dislike Sawmill's management team and would not recommend moving to this place unless you are desperate. tl;dr Don't live here unless you're desperate. The property management is nosey and prices aren't great. 3.5/10"
