"Parents Beware: Stay away from Academic Excellence Tutoring in Kihei. I was misguided and enrolled one of my children into their program earlier this year. After researching their program further and speaking to other dissatisfied families who had used their services in the past, I realized this was not the right fit for my child. SEVEN days before we were scheduled to start with them, I cancelled all tutoring services. They still proceeded to charge me almost $1500, and when I disputed the charge with my credit card company, they took me to court. This despite the fact that they never provided any educational services to my child, and we never even stepped foot in their facility-Due to a contract that they had me sign back in January- My family and I are now being forced to pay $1500. Literally for NOTHING! ***8/22/16 Follow to AE Tutoring"s response** Due to a medical emergency that occurred while traveling in the mainland this Summer, we did not appear in court on our scheduled hearing date. Therefore, a DEFAULT judgment was entered against us in the amount of $1494.28. That amount was paid in full to Academic Excellence Tutoring, on Friday August 19, 2016 via a hand delivered cashier's check. They are now attempting to censor our negative review, with threatening letters and emails** **9/21/16 AE Tutoring now demanding cease and desist of negative reviews** Due to our negative reviews of their business practices, on August 19, 2016 we received an email and then a letter from Academic Excellence, threatening legal action against us if we did not "cease and desist" with our negative comments regarding what we had experienced with them. It is important to note, that this letter was sent to us by an individual claiming that he/she represented Academic Excellence, but OUR attorney could not find that this individual has a legal license to practice law in the State of Hawaii, nor is he/she found in the Hawaii State Bar Directory. Academic Excellence has claimed that we have committed "fraud', which is absolutely untrue. All of the comments written in this review and others, are simply the written facts of what we encountered with this business**"
