"She is very thorough with her treatment and leaves no stone unturned. I have communication issues with her and I am not the best patient when I am scared. But the entire staff at Carson Tahoe Cancer Center is amazing!"
"My mom was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer in May of 2018. We were referred to Dr. Vinjamuri and she has been great. She explained the treatment, the side effects and gave us notes to take home. She is always willing to listen and help with all our concerns and questions. She made sure my mom was given hydration when it was hard to drink and medication to help stimulate her appetite when it was hard to eat. Dr. Vinjamuri kept track of my mom’s blood levels weekly and made decisions about her care as needed based on those results. In addition, she has a great bedside manner and caring spirit. At this point, my mom is cancer free and we know that is in part to the great care and treatment from Dr. Vinjamuri. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for an oncologist."
"Very scattered, no compassion for her patients. Never would recommend her. My Dad was recently diagnosed with metastatic pancreatic cancer and while in one of his hospital stays, Dr Vinjamuri came in to talk to him about treatment options and that a further biopsy of the liver needed to be done. We had an appointment Dr Vinjamuri about a week after the liver biopsy to go over results and treatment plan. My Dad, my Mom and sister attended the appointment and when Dr V came into the room she introduced herself and basically asked what she could do for us. One of us said, I thought we were here to go over the biopsy results? She clearly had not read my Dad medical history before she entered the room to see us. She said she didn’t have any results then stated that she would be right back to check with her staff for results. She came back into the room with the results, discussed what chemo plan needed to be followed and said it was going to be a very aggressive treatment. We asked her a few questions including if going to Huntsman Cancer Center in Utah would be an option to which she immediately shot down and said we didn’t have time to go there, treatment needed to get started ASAP. We asked a few other questions to which she immediately shot down without explanation. After much back and forth with insurance and scheduling, we finally had a start date for chemo...3 weeks later. We could have been in Utah and possibly started treatment 2 weeks earlier. My Dad was hospitalized again between this initial appointment and when he was supposed to be starting his first chemo treatment. We had to call the Oncology department to let them know he had been admitted to the hospital, was still there and if chemo would be ok to start as planned. (He was admitted to Carson Tahoe Regional Hospital, same hospital the Dr V is part of). Her staff as unaware that the was still in the hospital. We requested to talk to Dr V who did come to his hospital room to talk to us and discuss the recent PET scan report. Again, she clearly had not looked over his recent medical history as she initially said the PET scan had shown progression of the cancer, which I corrected her and said he had only had one PET scan done, but two CT scans. She argued with me initially then scanned through his medical records and corrected herself that yes, this was his first PET scan. She also stated that his bilirubin values had gone up when in actually, his blood tests from that morning, his bilirubin values were the lowest they had ever been since all this started, one of the values was near normal. She had also requested a cancer biomarker test as well as a general CBC profiles on our initial appointment with her. The CBC results were run, but the cancer biomarkers either never got done or the results were lost. Again, something she would have noticed had she gone through his medical records and I’m not sure she was going to do further comparison tests after a couple rounds of chemo to see if the treatment was working or not with out having a baseline test before treatment. Pancreatic cancer is one of the worst, most aggressive cancers out there, but her attitude was essential that my dad was a lost cause and blot worth putting any effort and absolutely not empathy. I would never recommend her."
