"Easily accessible to downtown area. Container park, nightclub, Fremont, all walking distance. Good atmosphere inside. Cocktail waitress friendly and attentive. Alot of fun machines. Stayed in the cabana rooms. Beautiful, cozy room. I can't wait to stay and play again!"

While wins may not come often, the vibrant atmosphere and diverse game selection keep the excitement alive. Plus, the addition of a fantastic restaurant and an excellent barber shop upstairs adds to the appeal. Without a doubt, it's a must-visit destination while downtown!"

"This was a decent hotel for a decent price! We did the Cabana suites, and the rooms were pretty good. Very green. Lol The bed was comfortable, the room was clean. The water pressure was my only complaint, honestly. It was weak as heck. They give you wristbands to unlock the door to the suite building as well as your room, so that was different. The elevator was slow and old, so we only used it to go upstairs. The casino is small and nice, I liked it. It's not right on Fremont, so it's less foot-trafficked and that's a plus. They will give you free drinks if you're actively gambling, so that's nice. Also if you're staying there you get a coupon book with $5 freeway on slots, $5 matched play on blackjack, and $5 off in the restaurant."

"I was SO excited to stay in the beautiful Original 47 rooms, and upgraded to a suite. When I walked in, I was originally shocked by the layer of dust on all the tables and drink rings, but I thought it must be the age of the hotel. It kept getting worse. The bed wasn’t turned and had hair all throughout it, the bathroom was gross, and the vanity had dirt and hair on the surfaces. Don’t even wanna say what the floor looked like. I went to the front desk thinking they’d be understanding and they made it seem like my issue. They said they sent someone to clean it multiple times but no one went up there. I got an amenity fee refund which was a nice gesture but I would prefer to have stayed somewhere clean or gotten the room fully refunded. I say go here and check out the lobby but stay somewhere else if you don’t wanna be totally grossed out."

"This was my first time staying off Strip and I have no intention of staying anywhere but downtown again after my stay at El Cortez. I loved the hotel. The casino has a great vibe and loved the older music played. I really enjoyed the vintage look they've maintained. All staff I interacted with were great and I enjoyed the fact that the property was smaller enough that you saw the same employees on multiple days instead of just a sea of faces on the mega resorts. I stayed in the Cabana Suites across the street and having to have a wristband to access the building made me feel more secure as a female staying in a room by myself. No much in the way of dining on site, but due to its great location in Fremont East we got to sample from several of the restaurants/pubs surrounding the hotel, and were not disappointed. While I would still visit the Strip on future trips, I enjoyed the chill vibe of staying downtown so much that I will definitely be booking at the El Cortex for my next stay."
