"I have done business with this location on at least 2 or 3 separate trips. This time, we rented a car at the Kahului airport for less than 24 hours, just to make the trip from the airport to our inlaws’ home in Lahaina. I was suspicious of the car we were given at the airport because it had quite a few damages to the exterior of the vehicle, so I took extensive photos. I didn’t want to be held responsible for damages someone else had done. I should have asked for a different car but we had been traveling for 20 hours and just wanted to get to bed. I drove this vehicle only on the main road from Kahului to Lahaina, and then into the gated neighborhood and garage of my in-laws. I returned the car and the representative there questioned a few of the damages to the exterior, which I proved from my photos were not my fault. I left, thinking that was it. Then nearly a month later I receive a later saying I’m responsible for $185 worth of tire damages. What?? Then email correspondence with AVIS suggested it resulted from roadside assistance. I never called roadside assistance! So I called and spoke to someone who stated that the damage was due to a bulging sidewall. I questioned why I would be responsible for this, seeing as I had this rental for less than 24 hours, only drove it on main roads, and returned it the way I received it. Based on the condition of the rest of the car, I have to assume whoever drove it previously drove it way too hard and took it off-road and that someone at Kahului didn’t adjust properly on their end. The charges were reversed but the entire experience left a bad taste in my mouth. Take photos of your vehicle, including the tires, so you aren’t charged for something you didn’t do!"

"I’ve gotta say, I had a decent experience with this Avis. They were polite and efficient in terms of customer service. I got lucky enough to get a new Rubicon with few miles on it, and it beat our gas mileage expectations. I returned it on time with a full tank so no issues there. Nothing bad to say, really."
