"The wife and I are still trying to hit all of the breakfast places in the Reno / Sparks area. Found Fortis Cafe on a Yelp search. We went there this morning. The service is almost excellent. Must be a family run establishment. Everyone is friendly and quick to respond. No complaints. Kind of a small place but clean and nicely decorated in a country style. The food was just off the mark. If there were a few tweeks, the food could be excellent. The wife ordered a Pastor Omelette and I had corn beef hash. On both plates the home potatoes were very bland. They looked like cut up boiled potatoes that were thrown briefly on the flattop. No browning on the potatoes no seasoning and no taste. A little seasoning salt or onions would go a long way to improving this item. The Pastor Omelette was an egg omelette with the pastor placed into the fold, not mixed in. This wasn't a problem but the egg part was a tad over done and dry. Thus making the entire omelette crumbly. Either some sour cream or some other binder is needed. The corn beef hash has all the makings for a great meal but fell just short. Again slightly over cooked, there were very hard and dry strands. Taste was okay but a few onions or peppers would have given this dish some pop. I really like family run restaurants so we will be back to try lunch."
"We had come to this restaurant under it's previous name, so when it changed ownership we decided to come back and try out the new business. We ordered brunch for take out on the weekend. Aesthetic wise everything looks the same as it previously did. It's not a huge restaurant but can probably accommodate a couple of larger groups. The food was tasty overall, nothing to complain about but maybe also nothing that entirely knocked our socks off. But just a good standard breakfast option. Unfortunately they were having issues with their point of sale system while they were there and that was causing things to be a little backed up at the counter. We also ended up being double charged so we had to fix that with the cc company, however I'm sure they'll work out those issues quickly."
"The delicious food, crafted in-house, is a delightful treat. You won’t find any frozen dishes here. The exceptional service adds to the experience. Perfect for a weekend brunch with the family"
"How anyone giving this place 5 stars is a mystery. Horrible food. Veggie omelet was maybe the worst I've ever had, didn't even have cheese. the avocado was the best part. The sad looking potatoes were boiled and sliced, no browning, no flavor. Coffee was decent. Tried putting ketchup on food but it tasted off so I ate around it. Staff wasn't very friendly, except to the obvious regulars and failed to ask if I needed anything or even a coffee refill. Should've left when I saw the filthy windows and entrance door. restroom needed cleaning, visible pee stains around toilet lid. Paid $20."
"First time in. Very happy with the food and prices. Small, seats about 34. Nice menu. Very polite and a nice clientele. Seems like a lot of take out Business. We’ll be back to try breakfast!"
