"The policies with this group are inhumane. My mother had a referral and an appointment but was admitted to ER, an emergency. She spent two weeks in the hospital, two more weeks in rehab. She missed her appointment with Chi St. Vincent neurology, Dr. Kara Way. Upon trying to reset another appointment for her, I was told she had been barred from treatment with this group because she missed her appointment. No flexibility, no compassion, no willingness to understand, just a complete turn away. Find another group of neurologists. No one should be treated this way."
"Both my PCP and my ENT have recommended a lumbar puncture to either confirm or rule out several serious conditions, but after two visits I cannot get the PA to recommend one to the neurologists. Twice she has treated me for migraine pain which I DO NOT HAVE, and have never had. I don't even get normal headaches. Meanwhile I'm so dizzy I can barely get out of bed. I have many other neurological symptoms as well and it would be wonderful if I could get a diagnosis and treatment instead of having someone repeatedly give me drugs for a symptom/condition I don't have. I have no idea if the neurologists here are any good because I've not been allowed to see one. My ENT has set me up with two neurologists at UAMS but they're booked up until February. I hope I survive that long. It certainly would be nice to get some actual medical treatment before then. I read all the other reviews and most people agree this clinic is a waste of time. I met another person who is a patient there, a woman who has had a stroke, and she too complained about the aggressive PAs who fight to keep you from seeing a doctor. If you can find other treatment pass this place by."
"Would not recommend-to anyone that wants a caring team, who is willing to diagnose their issues. I was referred to Dr. Way by my PCP. On the Initial visit she set me up with another Dr. in the same clinic & I was run through a battery of nerve conduction & EMG tests. They then had me re-schedule for for a post-consult- with Dr. Way (I assumed) We were waiting to see if anything could be done to help. When we went back for the post test consulting, we were told Dr. Way was seeing new patients only. So we got to see a nurse practitioner (very polite) but not who I took time out of my busy day to consult with on a nerve issue we have been dealing with for 9 months. I am disappointed in that obviously my well being is not of their concern."
"First I would like to confirm I did not follow the protocol or processes correctly as outlined in the documents and guidelines submitted to me. I arrived at the wrong building and had to park quite a distance from the office so I did in fact arrive at 10:00AM for my 10:00AM appointment. I went to the window and the assistant asked for my name , she didn't say hello, how may I help you or anything along those lines. Just what is your name. Her next words were "We will have to reschedule your appointment to have time to process your paper work before the appointment" . My response was "Forget it". The instructions did in fact say to show up 15 minutes before the appointment to process the paperwork so it was within your procedural processes to reschedule the appointment. I think what was the most disturbing to me was the lack of any caring or empathy towards me regarding this process. How about "I 'm sorry Mr. Ballard but we are going to have to reschedule you for another appointment and l can do that for you right away or even better, Mr. Ballard if you can wait we can work you in as it will require finishing up processing your paper work before seeing the physician. Where is the caring ? Are you so determined that protocols and procedures are being executed correctly that you lose sight of patient care? I understand organization and wanting for your patients to be seen in a timely manner but this first experience at your office as a new potential patient left me stunned. I have no immediate need for a Neurologist other that my last one has retired and my primary care physician thought I should have one.. This was a sad day for CHI St Vincent's, Hot Springs Neurology, and the physician I was to see. I am 73 years and retired from the restaurant business. Customer service was our livelihood. When we received a complaint whether it be on food or service we went to extraordinary measures to correct it whatever the cost. Regards Barry"
"It took over 3 months to get an appointment at this location. While I'm sure the front desk female is good at her job, she has zero customer service skills. I used the online check-in feature and spent approximately 15 minutes answering online questions. I got there about 20 minutes prior to my appointment and the first thing asked, "Do you have your paperwork?" To which I responded no. The next thing said, "We will have to reschedule you." When I inquired why, I was told that it takes an hour to fill out the paperwork since it asked a lot of questions about weakness, etc. First of all, we were referred and our notes from our doctor sent over so they know as much about what is going on as I do. Secondly, I've never been seen on-time in the office, including the long wait in the examining room, so I feel certain the majority of the paperwork could have been completed. Finally, when asked if they had a packet, she didn't even have one ready without copying it. When I got home from my 9:00 appt, there was a voicemail that they could see me at 11:00 and I could come in at 10 to fill out the paperwork. Why not just string me along the first time I walked in and have me fill it out while we waited? Altogether, a major fail."
