"What an enjoyable experience. My wife and I are in Chanhassen for our anniversary, and we were having a hard time deciding where to go for dinner our first night in town. We chose Tequila Butcher at random. God, we couldn't have picked a better place for dinner. I had the "wet tacos" on Mary B's recommendation. Wow, what a great choice. Smoked brisket tacos served with a consume for dipping. The brisket was some of the best brisket I've had in years, and the consume was amazing. The Spanish rice, while a bit sticky, had a great flavor, along with a nice bit of spiciness without being overpowering. The Yuca fries were something I had never heard of before, but opted to try them rather than the beans that came as a standard side dish. They were Yucca cactus leaves cut into triangles approximately 2 1/2 inches long and deep fried. Great recommendation yet again from Mary B. I also had a 3 piece order of the "Texas Twinkies" stuffed jalapeño peppers wrapped in bacon and smoked, then finished with the demi glaze. The smoked cream cheese was a very pleasant surprise, nicely seasoned without being overbearing. My wife had the "fish and chips" 2 large walleye filets beer battered and deep-fried along with twice fried potatoes. She raved about the fish but wasn't crazy about the French fries. She thought they tasted a tad over cooked, bordering on being burnt. I tried a few and thought that maybe the fryer oil might have been due for a change. And the drinks, OH my God, if I hadn't been driving, I could have sat there all night drinking the margaritas on ice, the house tequila definitely wasn't Jose Cuervo, or any other third tier tequila, it was at least a Cabo Wabo quality tequila. Not top tier, but also not a cheap third-rate tequila. My wife had something called an "anything goes" that was made with vodka and had a raspberry garnish. She said it was a bit sour, but still a very tasty drink. Overall, we were more than happy that we decided to try Tequila Butcher and wouldn't hesitate to come back here again. I want to give a special shout out to our waitress Mary B, you did an amazing job of recommending several different items from the menu that you clearly were more than familiar with. And your pleasantness was something rarely experienced lately. I'm an OTR trucker and eat out quite often, and the waitresses I deal with could ALL learn a few things from you. Thank you for adding to a great dinner experience!"
"We went in on a whim after touring Paisley Park. So glad we did it was excellent! The food was bursting with flavor, the tequila was smooth and our server was so charming."
"My experience at this place was NOT what expected for a lunch with a few of my employees. At first impression the place looked to be clean and with a decent atmosphere. My employes as well as my self are of latino background, so naturally we were super exited to try a new Latin restaurant. This restaurant has what at first glance to be a great selection of alcohol some what impressive i would say. Unfortunately EVERYTHING else was very mediocre and of poor quality. My employees and I felt very disregard by the staff. Our server was very quick to pass by multiple times without check about service with us. We asked for some silverware and napkins and myself had to get up and get the items myself. As a funny cavit the table next to us complaint about their food. Well... they got a wonderful service from a few different staff members. Every time they would pass us by without checking in. I have to hunt down our server for some refills. I usually don't take the time to post a bad review because I believe we all are in a proses of learning BUT THIS PLACE deserves to step it up...!"
"The service from our waiter made this visit special. From the start he explained the drink and the food menu. The food was good. The brisket was full of flavor and very tender with a good smoke layer. The ribs had a strong smoke flavor with a nice bark. Great atmosphere. I will go back."
"(Last visited 4/21/2022.) Hanging out in Chanhassen, MN for work and it's lunch time with some coworkers! Someone threw out "Tequila Butcher" as a potential lunch spot. It's nearby so here's how it went! Atmosphere/Appearance: This place is nestled right in like... not quite a plaza, but an "area" that is also next to Buffalo Wild Wings, a tire shop, Chipotle and other businesses. There's a private parking lot so there's no worries about where to put your fly ride. The exterior looks like a cantina of sorts and is well put together. Inside is very modern, laid-back, calming and gives me a tavern feel. Once inside the bar is front and center with seating surrounding it. Off to the left is a BEAUTIFUL tequila wall complete with barrels for aesthetic. The walls are white brick with an exposed high ceiling and the noise level was quite moderate. There is also a more intimate and private dining section complete with another bar through an entrance near the tequila wall. Service: Bob took care of us. He didn't show much personality, which could be HIS personality, but he was patient, took care of us and just made sure we had whatever we needed as we sat at the bar. Food: So we started off with the Texas Twinkies! It's a jalapeño wrapped with bacon then stuffed with cream cheese and smoked brisket. It was VERY good with a bit of sweetness in the sauce as well as a smokey, super rich flavor. The pepper was quite spicy and their was a great saltiness from the bacon/brisket. For my entrée I went with the 3-Taco meal-deal. You can totally get 3 different kinds if you choose, which is what I did. The ground beef taco was a lil, bland, lil' dry and genuinely unexciting. The Al Pastor was my favorite of the 3, but still could've used more of a punch. The Carne Asada was the blandest of all 3 and the tortilla was chewy... so, yeah. However, I did enjoy the thick tortilla chips and the guacamole was super creamy! Value: Not too bad. With the Texas Twinkies you can order as many as you like for $5.00 a piece, but the minimum order is 3. So I had to spend $15.00 for them. My taco deal was also $15.00 and it came with 3 tacos of your choosing as well as tortillas chips with dipping sauces. In conclusion, I still really enjoyed myself here even though I didn't rave about my food. However, my coworkers' entrees did look great so I'd love to come back here and try something else!"
