"I have literally spent tens of thousands of dollars with U-Haul over the years but after this last experience, I won't give them another dime. I had an emergency come up with my autistic son being hospitalized and couldn't get help to empty the truck immediately. They suggested I take the contents of the truck and donate it to goodwill so I could return the truck right away. They said on top of another days charge I would be charged $50 because someone else had rented the truck. I called u-haul and they had other trucks available, then they called me back, saying they would extend my rental. Great! Except when I got the bill there was a $50 charge for cleaning and another $14 for insurance when I didn't agree to that. The truck was clean. I am not a flake who doesn't return my rentals. This was a very extenuating circumstance and they could've had some compassion and extended the rental without asking me to donate a thousand dollars worth of furniture and leaving my son alone in the hospital while I dealt with them. A little kindness goes a long way."
