"We previously stayed at the Sahara and really enjoyed it. This was based on the excellent service. This time got off to a bad start and unfortunately was bad to the point where I will be looking at another resort when I go to Vegas. First, they cancelled my reservation without notice to myself. This was eventually rectified, but not after repeated calls to the front desk. Second, I noted they have now included an additional fee, in addition to the resort fees. While small, it is based on "housekeeping gratuity". I have no problem paying housekeeping, but it should not be a mandatory fee (and housekeeping should in fact be provided). Third, I booked directly on their website, yet was basically called a liar and booked on Kayak. I believe this may have affected my player's club status. The check in was not great, as it was not explained as to why I was required to pay the entire amount of the room upfront, which I do not recall having to do when I have a credit card on file. Just basically "pay this". Finally, we never received any housekeeping for our entire weekend. Again, when you allegedly pay a fee, you expect the service for it. Again, this was very different in comparison to our last stay there, which was fantastic."
"Sahara Las Vegas is a pretty good hotel at the end of the Las Vegas strip. The rooms are nice and clean, and while the view from the room is just ok, the staff are well-mannered, and the casino area is quite enjoyable. It's not a very big resort like some of the central ones on the strip, but it has its charm. My one complaint about this hotel is the mandatory $50 per night resort fee. They say it's for using the resort amenities like the pool and gym, and for gratuities for room services. However, I believe this should be optional. Many travelers like us only use the hotel for night stays and don't utilize these amenities or services daily (as we had the privacy sign on), yet we were still charged $200 for four nights. When I inquired about a refund, they only returned about half of what I paid. This doesn't seem like good business practice to me. They should ask guests during check-in if they intend to use these amenities and charge accordingly. I'm not pleased with this experience and might consider other hotels for my next Las Vegas visit. Otherwise, I would have given at least a 4-star rating."
"The rooms are tiny for the price you pay. After our first night we got up bright eyed and ready for fun. To our demise there was no hot water. No biggie, we had a great day out and about. Got back to room for a refresher and opened the room door and our noses were assaulted with the reek of sewage. The front desk was great and we got moved in a very reasonable time frame. Woke up the next day hoping it was just the last room but yet again still no hot water. Owell. For how nice the lobby floor and casino is and the prices they charge the rooms are extremely on another level from that. Downstairs your walking into a 5 star then you get to your room and your lucky if your getting a star. Unfortunate but I guess if your just sleeping it is what it is, just a waste of money. Much older yet better places to stay that I actually saw with some of the friends we traveled with."
"We will stay again. Beautiful facility. The staff was wonderful and helpful from start to finish. We liked that some areas in the resort didn't have the casino "right on top of you". It was relaxing and didn't have all the hustle and bustle like other hotels on the strip. Had a great time!"
"Great service on the front desk. Well looked after when we got in after a 24 hour + flight. Lady at the desk was more than helpful. Room is nice and clean and an excellent size with large TV and plenty of seats, bed and pillows excellent. We have stayed Hilton and intercontinental around the world but I feel mattress and pillow here as good if not better. Would use again and recommend."
