"I have been a dedicated client of Amity Woods for over 15 years. I used them for vet services and lodging while on vacations. This is not a review reflecting on the vet care my pets have received over the years but on a stay my French bulldog Rudy had in June. I dropped him off on a Friday for a 5 day stay with vet care. I received a phone call on Monday morning stating he can no longer use his hind legs. They say he was kenneled alone Sunday night after no issues but when staff arrived Monday morning he could not get up. He was x-rayed and needed emergency spinal surgery to rectify a disc impeding on his spinal cord. He had no prior issues to this. The expensive surgery was performed and he is on the road to recovery. My issue with the lodge is that they claim the cameras were off over the weekend and all the charting about the weekend was done after the fact Monday afternoon. They attempted to submit a request to their insurance company to help recoup some of the cost for us but as insurance companies do they denied that request. They claimed this is common for French bulldogs. I know no other frenchie with this ailment of being paralyzed after being in a kennel alone overnight. So then I gave the lodge numerous chances to do right by us and perhaps split the cost. My emails and calls have gone unanswered to. They have actually avoided us basically after the first week when they seemed to care. I don't believe they are in the business to hurt pets but it doesn't change the fact it happened on their watch and now we are teaching our frenchie to be back to his normal self with an expensive price tag attached. I'm very disappointed with Amity Woods Lodge and the conscience they have after the incident."
"Very poor customer serivice. They rescheduled our appointment twice and they got it wrong; they said it was only a bath and brush. We actually requested a grooming and hair cut for our dog. We requested an "acceptable reschedule" given the circumstances and they were not willing to help. I don't recommend you take your dog to this place."
"Took our dog to the doggy day care yesterday and was very unhappy about how things were handled. They had way too many dogs and some of the bigger dogs were intimidating our Kasey. Employees were indifferent. They don't have the same people employed there that were there previously when I bought the package deal. I am so disappointed! I immediately went back to get her and relieve her of a bad situation..."
"One star is too generous. Not sure what has happened at Amity Woods, but the customer service has taken a turn for the worse. Staff has completely turned over. They are understaffed. Staff used to be super friendly and now some are down right rude. Management needs to show they care about customer service."
"I regret trusting them to take care of my dog. As I dropped her off, the employee and I discussed the terms of her stay and it was all documented. I was told my dog would be placed into the daycare within the hour (as I had paid extra for). I watched for her on the live webcam all weekend and never saw her. I was horrified at pickup when I inquired about it and I was told that yes, she should have been placed into the daycare, but simply wasn't. No explanation other than that it just didn't happen. They knocked my bill down $50 and brought her out to me. I opened her bag on the spot to see that none of her treats or bones had been given to her like we had discussed. When I asked, the supervisor said that yes, it was documented that she should have gotten them twice a day, but it just didn't happen. Again, I wasn't given any explanation other than that. The supervisor apologized and said he would make a note in her files to make sure this never happens again... Two days after my dog is home, we noticed she is in pain and there is blood in her urine. Her veterinarian diagnosed her with a Urinary Tract Infection from holding her urine too long during the weekend. I don't believe she saw the outside of her kennel the whole 4 days of her stay. It has been two full weeks and I still haven't heard back from them after requesting to speak to someone about this nightmare. I feel guilty having trusted such a careless facility with my best friend."
