"I lived in the Board of Trade Lofts for two years. I started in a 2 bedroom unit with a roommate and then moved into a one bedroom with my significant other. Overall, I enjoyed living there, but there are positives and negatives. Pros: -The lofts are really nice and super clean upon move in. I loved my spaces at BOT. My upper floor unit had super high ceilings which made a one bedroom feel much bigger. Updated appliances are a plus. -Maintenance was quick and the guys were super nice. -Noma was the best leasing agent when I initially moved in and resigned to a different unit. Super accommodating when I needed to extend my first lease in between moving in the building. -It was awesome having an aquatic/gym facility available. The Kirk Family YMCA is right across the street and very nice if you want another option. -The location is phenomenal, we took great advantage of the streetcar and loves having neighborhood staples like John’s Big Deck within walking distance. -The apartments were pretty affordable for downtown KC. Cons: -This is a big building with lots of residents living in it. For the most part, the overall building is quiet enough but who you live around and the placement of your unit will really will make or break things. My first unit was a corner apartment and it had noise issues, but it wasn’t as bad as what dealt with in my second place. I had one person next door who blasted music and talked/yelled super loud past 1 am on weeknights. I heard almost everything from their unit. Even phone alarms in the morning and the person on the other end of their phone calls. Paper thin walls. Expect to hear people’s kids screaming some mornings. -Laundry room facilities are usually trashed by other residents. Other residents will leave their laundry sitting all day. My floor had only had one working washing machine for almost a year. It was fixed and then would go down again. -Constant package stealing. They need lockers or something, it got ridiculous. Four packages delivered and not to be found in one month (and yes, tracking shows pictures in the building). -Hot tub was frequently closed. -Trash valet was a required $20 a month and they often neglected our trash even double bagged. -The hallways and elevators always smelled like cigarettes. People let their dogs pee everywhere. -Got our apartment professionally cleaned and looking perfect before moving out and they still nicked some of our security deposit"
"All these wonderful comments about Josh yet he was denied the chance to be an assistant manager, being told by the manager that he was the most unreliable person she had in the office. Have never seen great employees treated with such disrespect. Josh no longer works here because he was treated badly by management despite being their number one leasing agent, bringing their occupancy way up from where it was when he started. The office is basically just the little girls club and dysfunctional, like a bad soap opera. They also have this bad habit of favoring one tenant over another, allowing one tenant to do something while telling another that it goes against their policy to do the same thing for them when asked. Shocked this hasnt triggered a fair housing complaint as providing things to one tenant then denying the same request from another violates fair housing laws."
"I live in Trolley Lofts and the management couldn't care less about what's happening here. Packages are constantly being stolen, the elevators are always breaking, and the water is shut off without warning quite often. When complaining about said issues to management, they always have an excuse and they literally don't care enough to try and help residents at all. The apartments are in a great location, but it doesn't make up for the drafty windows and the thin walls/floors. Using the laundry room or any amenities is hit and miss also as the dryers and washers hardly work and the gym/clubhouse are just underwhelming."
"If you’re considering moving in here don’t. First off I came too visit these apartments back in September and I have been debating back and forth whether I should leave a review or not but now that I know that I will not be moving into any of these apartments owned by the company I will be leaving my honestly review. So basically I called for an appointment too see these apartments at board of trade lofts and they told me that they “would show me the apartments by giving me a tour” when I arrived the person in charge (Marina) told me that unfortunately she wouldn’t be able too give me a tour even though I set up an appointment. All she has showed me were the amenities the apartments offer which I guess is fine Even though I Ubered 25 minutes to get there. And on top of that I was running late to an event I needed to attended since I decided to stop by thinking I would get a tour of this place. Which I did not. Comepletely disappointed. IF YOUR GOING TOO CONSIDER MOVING TOO DOWTOWN KC I STRONGLY RECOMMEND RM WEST from what I heard are good apartments or something else near by."
"Had a very positive experience from the initial phone call with Meredith to set up viewings of several KC Loft Central properties to the move-in process. I learned about the New England Building which was opening on Sept. 1, 2017, and decided to immediately grab one of the last available units and also a heated garage spot connected to the building! This building was finished in 1886 and still has many of the original architecture elements despite completely new interiors, including new carpeting, stone countertops, new appliances and a washer/dryer in every unit. A bonus is a monthly flat fee for utilities (electricity & water). The 1st floor bank vault has been converted to a fitness center adjacent to the Howard Hughes lounge for use by residents. Also received a follow-up from a manager, Pam, who made sure I had all of my questions answered and also had a follow-up from Meredith to make sure my move-in was smooth. Although KC Loft Central manages a large number of properties in the Library District, Garment District and Crossroads District, the New England Building is in a very convenient location to central Downtown, P&L District, River Market, streetcar line and the Downtown Loop/Broadway. The staff is professional and courteous and I highly recommend this company to future residents."
