"We were approved for an apartment here but decided not to take it. Darcy, who works here, was very rude and talked down to us. It felt like she was letting her role at the apartment complex go to her head. We chose not to move in because talking to her was such a bad experience. If she’s this way, I worry about what the rest of the management team might be like. I would give 0 stars if I could."
"I applied for this apartment complex and was denied on the grounds of "credit history" and "rental history" (no more specific than that). Instead of giving me the opportunity to get a cosigner or pay an additional security deposit, they denied me outright. Plus, I spoke with my current landlord and they confirmed that they did not receive a request for rental history information from their management. I wanted an explanation as to why I was denied to better understand how to apply for other places in the future. Despite asking multiple times, the property manager did not give me specific reasons as to why my "credit history" and "rental history" were not enough me to rent a space there. They only cited that they "have a right to deny any application that doesn't meet their screening criteria". I was also ignored for more than 72 business hours after making a request for more information, and had to send a second email asking for clarification again. Not to mention, every email they sent me was riddled with spelling and grammar errors. If this is how they communicate with potential applicants, I shudder to think of how their tenants are treated."
"Living at Forest Village was by far the best apartment-living experience I've ever had! I found it to be a very quiet, pleasant, and safe. My wife and I lived there for two years and only moved out because we wanted a house with a yard. The management, both Darcy and Cassy, were always friendly, helpful, and honest with us. They always responded quickly and politely with any questions we had. The cost of living is very reasonable, especially considering how quiet and beautiful the area is. Public transport is accessible, the bus stops right across the street. The pool area is kept very neat and clean. The gym is a little small, but nice to have. Our neighbors were very quiet. We could hear footsteps from our neighbors above us, but we quickly got used to that and never heard any loud noises from neighbors. No place is perfect, there were some small downsides. There are communal coin-operated washers and dryers, but some of the dryers don't work well. If you move here I recommend buying a clothes-drying rack. There is some theft in the area, (my car was broken into once, and some neighbors had things stolen from their carports) but that's typical for most of Eugene and Springfield. The staff is always quick to alert residents when thefts occur. Despite the thefts, we always felt very safe in the area, even walking around in the middle of the night. We had some difficulties with other dogs. Some would be left on the balcony unattended to bark and growl at our own dog, scaring her as we walked by. If you have a fearful dog this could be stressful for them, but the management was quick to let residents know this was not okay and dogs must be attended when outside. Other than that, we had no dog-related trouble. We encountered very few off-leash dogs compared to other apartment complexes. It sounds unbelievable, but people here actually pick up their own dog waste! Some of these reviews make it sound like the management is watching your every move, but I did not find this to be the case. Quite the opposite. They always respected our privacy and left us alone to do our own thing. They never gave us any trouble about having guests or anything else. My impression is that they will let you go about your business, unless one of your neighbors reports a significant problem. Our move-out experience was very pleasant as well. If you're looking for a safe, quiet, low-priced place in the woods, I would highly recommend Forest Village!"
"Unless you are a Caucasian middle class family, I would not suggest living here. You will be treated as a second class citizen. My guess as to the reason we were allowed to live here as long as we did, they were afraid we'd press charges for discrimination. They are very, "by the book," except when it comes to giving you your returned deposit. We cleaned everything, including the walls, and cleaned the carpets, as requested, and received $40 of our $400 deposit back. The reason? We forgot to clean the inside of the stove. Apparently it takes 8+ hours to clean one of those, who knew. My roommate and I moved out halfway through the month (notice was given). As of today, we have yet to recieve the check for the last month's rent we were owed (due to paying first and last month's rent when moving in). To their credit, the complex is very beautiful. And the apartments themselves are quite nice. If they are still managed by the same people we had to deal with in August, I would not recommend it."
"The Forest Village Apartments are clean, affordable, and very, very quiet. The neighbors are all kind and considerate, and all the grounds and facilities are very well maintained. The neighborhood feels safe and friendly, and there are tons of nearby places to walk, hike, bike, and explore. Since the new owners have taken over (it think in 2010), the place is undergoing a facelift. A lot of the units are being upgraded with laminate floors and stainless appliances, and having the on-site owner/managers and their extended family there makes me feel very secure. We never had a problem with mold, but we're careful about using exhaust fans, keeping air moving, etc. They've also refurbished the swimming pool, which is also well maintained and fun for the kids. We met a lot of our neighbors there over the summer, and it was an unexpected surprise when we moved in. The rent is very reasonable, and we would definitely consider coming back if our circumstances require us to rent an apartment again."
