"I’m not going to lie I loved this place. My family always come in from out of town and we go here but when I went I ordered shrimp tacos. Shrimp was completely rotten smelled horrible! Let the desk know absolutely didn’t care let another person know and they took it and smelled it agreed it smelled horrible. Never offered a refund or anything. I hate to say it but after eating spoiled shrimp I don’t think I’ll be back. The thought grosses me out which is a shame being this was once my favorite taco spot"

"Taco Mel is by far our favorite place to get actual Mexican food in Lake Charles. It’s a no-nonsense taco joint with better prices than Taco Bell. You walk in, tell them you want sautéed onions and veggies on your taco, then make it yourself. If it doesn’t taste good, it’s probably your own fault. We love love the barbacoa tacos and quesadilla, but it’s hard to go wrong here. It’s honestly probably the best thing Chuck has since we don’t have a Chipotle or Izzo’s but we’ll still be coming back here even when those pop up (probably never though)."

"Tacos! Overall not much to say, the tacos are small but you can order several from different kinda and add your own toppings for free. The restaurant was overall okay for a quick stop but nothing too fancy."

"Today was my first day trying this restaurant. I am very pleased, very clean the staff is helpful but most importantly the food is amazing! It tastes just like my Mawmaw's cooking (we are Mexican) I could eat here every day. They also allow you to put what ever topping in your taco! Very neat! Will be going back."

"The food was pretty good. I had a beef fajita taco and a grilled chicken taco. I had bell peppers and onions on both of them. It wasn't until I was already eating them that I realized that the rest of the toppings were on a separate bar. I saw a bunch of people getting to-go boxes and filling them up with the toppings and assumed that it was a salad bar. That's on me for not asking but the staff didn't offer to let me know, either. I'll go back and give them another try. I'm sure that it will be more flavorful with added toppings."
