"Vaux's Swifts use the schools chimney as an evening roost during their fall migration. The sight is incredible."
"The vaux swift migration is an epic scene here. There were thousands of swifts circling for thirty minutes until they decided to fly down the chimney. We sat there along with a hundred other people. It was a unique experience!"
"The staff and Teachers are great. There are 30 students for 1 teacher in a tiny classroom, besides the fact that this is too many kids, it doesn't seem safe or healthy to me. The school is too small, there's no cafeteria, and the kids don't get enough time to eat lunch. I'm not a fan of kids eating breakfast in their classrooms, it's a distraction and, well, kind of gross. There is no where to drop you child off if you have to drive, good luck finding parking. Esco is a couple blocks away, there are days when the pollutants in the air are so strong you can taste them. Compared to other schools in Portland, Chapman is good, compared to other schools in different cities I've lived in, it's horrible."
"My son has gone to school here for two years. He has had two amazing teachers in those two years and is really thriving at Chapman. Community involvement in the school is better than I have seen anywhere else. The school is a bit old and a little bit on the small size but I have never heard my son complain about it being crowded or too small. I highly recommend this school. If you live in the neighborhood, I can't imagine why one would go to a private school when this gem is in your back yard."
"First of all this place has the best soccer field in Portland to play a pickup game. Recently the Portland Timbers and Adidas teamed up to sponsor building a community field. It's extremely nice and it's that new hybrid grass/turf that's really easy on joints. It is also the famous school where the Swifts fly down the chimneys 2x per year. Just saw them for the first time a few days ago and it is awe inspiring. A definite Portland must do."
