"If you're needing a quick loan I was completely impressed with their professionalism and customer service. Exceeded my expectation for sure! Their customer service is second to none compared to other local similar businesses and will only work with Tropics Jewelry and Loan in the future. The girl I worked with was friendly, knowledgeable, emphatically understanding to my situation and needs. They had what I felt to be fair loan amounts and acceptable fees. I highly and easily recommend this business for your loan needs."
"Been here a few times already and everytime I walk through the door I was always greeted. The employees here were very nice and answered any questions that I had and if one did not know the other one would. I purchase a handgun here and the process was smooth. The employees were excellent and I've always had great customer service."
"They don’t really give you much money but they are so nice that it’s ok my item is seasonal but thanks for being so cool"
"FFL user beware. This was the first time I tried to use them as a transfer. I didn't really want to go out of my way to my normal FFL dealer for what I purchased and they're on my way home. In past transfers I've done with other places, they want paperwork before the item is received. This place, did not. Which, I thought was out of the norm, first red flag. Next red flag, when they called, they didn't leave a message. Had it not been for caller ID, I would have sluffed off the call and chocked it up to a telemarketer. I returned the call, they setup an appointment. Had an appointment, and spaced the appointment and my phone reminded me and I was too far to make it on time. Called them up, stated that hey, I'm not going to be able to make the appointment. They said, no worries, we'll set up another appointment. Alright, cool. She tells me the fee is $35....thinking, wait, their website says $32.50. I brush it off, not wanting to argue over $2.50. A few minutes later, she says, with the new appointment and the fee for the missed appointment, it will be $70. "Wait, what?" Then she explains there is a $35 missed appointment fee and the new appointment fee. So, then I state, that no one informed me of any fee if the appointment was missed, as well as no one informed me of any appointment fee in general. They only let me know of the FFL transfer fee. Then, I asked if the appointment fee was on top of the $32.50 transfer fee. She then backtracked and said the fee is actually 32.50, and the total was $65. I told her no, ship it back. She then told me that I needed to contact the original seller. I contacted Palmetto State, told them my issue, they questioned why I was contacting them instead of the FFL. I told them the whole issue. I got the information that Palmetto State requested FROM tropics to start the return. Palmetto state then sent me the return label and paperwork that the FFL needed to fill out. I forwarded the information to Tropics, then called and let them know it was sent and asked if they needed anything from me. The guy that I talked to on the phone said I needed to come in and fill out some paperwork. This was on a Thursday. I went in on a Monday. I had the UPS return tracking from Palmetto. Before I went down, I checked the tracking to see if they started the return. It still showed "label created". I went down and talked to a gal that sounded like the first gal I talked to. Told her the situation and said I either need to fill out paperwork or pick up the part. She goes away and comes back moments later and tells me the part has been shipped back and that the only reason she needed me to come in for, was to charge me the original appointment fee. Yeah, cause that doesn't seem shady AF. I then went out to my car to check the tracking again. Still showed the same information. Anyone that has shipped with UPS, know that when they scan your package, it is promptly updated with a new status. The shipping status didn't change till the next day. So, moral of the story, transfer users beware. If you're going to use them, be prompt because it will get real shady, real quick."
"Much to the surprise of most of my friends, I’ve been packing legal heat for the past 25 years. A beat up old hippie liberal armed for bear and exercising my ever loving God given rights! And if you buy this kind a thing, ya gotta have a firearms dealer where ya pick up your one way ticket to bad karma. And for a while it’s been Tropics Jeweler & Loan, although as the weather gets colder, the name starts looking a bit ironic. So what’s the problem one might well ask? Well I’ll tell you, though some of you will probably want to run right down there and have a big party. The last two times I’ve gone in there, there were customers not wearing masks. Do the staff ask them to swathe their politically incorrect mugs? No, because neither of the staff were wearing their masks either. Not just hanging under their noses like a flag at half mast, not just taken off for a moment to catch their breath, not just a brief respite to talk to a half deaf customer like myself, But simply not doing it, which gives the possibly conservative leaning clientele not only the right, but the encouragement to proudly blow their virus tainted air hither and yon. To say that they are violating the Covid Mask Mandate is almost beside the point… the real issue is a blunt disregard for the health and well being of their customers. So I suppose I’ll have to wander off into the vast wasteland and find another firearms dealer willing to take my money as the staff there do not give a flying you know what about either mine or anyone else’s health."
