"The most beautiful views at this gorgeous Marina on Highway 101... Worth the drive and also check out their rooftop restaurant, too. The only bummer here is their very limited days and hours."
"We are locals - we live in Quilcene and our boat is moored next door at Home Port marina. We have been over to Pleasant Harbor probably 2-3 dozen times over the years and spent thousands of dollars at the fuel dock and restaurant. Generally speaking the staff are great and it’s a nice place. But as of yesterday we will never spend a single cent there again. Around midday we came in from crabbing, tied up at the fuel dock, and radioed to have someone come down so we could fill up our fishing boat. Took a few minutes, but no big deal. However the smug, condescending a-hole who “helped” us quickly turned a mundane chore into a combative, crazily unpleasant experience. We attempted to chat with him while we filled up over 50 gallons in our main tank, but he said nearly nothing. We then went to fill the auxiliary tank which we rarely use, but since we have some longer trips coming up we decided to do it so that we didn’t have to fill up again for a while. It was completely empty but after a gallon or so of fuel went in it had a vacuum lock and about 2-3ounces of fuel burped back up onto the boat - most of which I caught with a rag that was in my hand. The attendant, still standing silently right in front of us, rolls his eyes at us and just walks away, not a single word. He comes back, practically tosses a couple of absorbent pads at me to soak up the MAYBE 1 oz of fuel that got to the water, then turns around and walks away again. Still not a single word. Fine, he’s having a bad day… So I soak up the fuel, and a couple of minutes later he comes back over, smirks at us (not kidding), takes the fuel nozzle out of our boat, and with an actual smile says “we have a new policy that if you spill more than a cup of fuel you’re done”. We both thought he was kidding, with the smile and sarcastic-sounding tone, but then he just stood there…so I said, “Are you serious?” He responds with, “You’re not getting any more fuel. There’s a number on the wall over there if you want to call the coastguard and tell them.” Yes, really. We were dumbfounded. I attempted to explain the absurdity of this since it was clearly nowhere even close a quarter of a cup, and wasn’t due to negligence or something, this stuff just happens - it’s a boat. But he cut me off and says “we have a nice marina here and we spend a lot of money, we need to stop this kind of behavior.” Then he just walks away. It seriously took 10-15 seconds of just staring at each other before we could process it all. Who gave this guy a job interfacing with customers? We paid the $350 and left, but it was enough for us to decide we’d rather pull the boat and fill up at the gas station in town than risk having to deal with this guy again."
"We keep our boat here every year and the harbor is absolutely beautiful but the staff is the BEST! Even after hours, we had an issue with our septic system and needed to have a pump out after hours. We had 3 staff members come out after hours to help us! They were all so nice and helpful wouldn’t take a tip. Definitely recommend taking the trip here!!"
"Boating for nearly 30 years in the region you get a sense of hospitality early in a stay. Pleasant Harbor is beautiful little harbor but the locals want to keep it to themselves. Many rules and a not so Pleasant attitude from locals. Pets seem to be frowned upon and certainly don't let the kids wonder around or enjoy a 68 decibel gathering on the dock. You'll get a talking too."
"While sailing the hood canal this summer, our two separate overnight stays (moorage) at pleasant harbor marina were excellent. The facilities were very clean, beautiful and well maintained. The staff were friendly, seasoned, knowledgeable and truly were hosts during our stay. Our dog was also happy with the pet friendly atmosphere. Your hospitality and upkeep really stood out here, thank you!"
