"Ive never had such a backward experience going to school until i stumbled into this one. To start, I found it insane that teachers do not have access/are not made aware of your academic history if you transfer in. Like any other school you have to submit your transcript. Unlike any other school, you also have to seperatly pay for and send the same transcript to each of your teachers to prove you did in fact take the prerecs. If you dont do the records and admissions job for them, then you are punished and removed from the class. I have also found my experience to be extremely poor in other ways. For example there is a teacher who assigns homework that is NEVER reviewed or mentioned in class. To be clear, the majority of my grade is based off of guessing through 60+ question quizzes at home when the concepts it covers HAVE NEVER BEEN INTRODUCED. You may ask if i have brought this up to the teacher. I have. I even brought it up to the dean who really seemed to have cared less about any resolution as much as he cared about pacifying me. No resolutions have been offered by administrators other than dropping the class or again having a useless conversation with the teacher (which i did and got nowhere fast). at this point i do not know how the job of the dean is supposed to be helpful or relevant if the only solution to academic concerns is pacification and telling the student to figure it out themself. The single positive experience Ive had with their staff has been with their financial aid dept. Alexander has been wonderful in helping me sort out FAFSA issues. Huge shout out to them. Ive heard ARC and Consumnes are much nicer campuses that function much more efficiently. Try your luck and spend your coin elsewhere. Pro: near lots of food, ok campus, wonderful counselors, wonderful team in the financial aid dept to help with any issues, some teachers give good lectures Con: most unhelpful faculty, bogus grading systems, hiding transcripts, dean is little more than a figurehead, school does not care about academic success, no real conflict resolution, no food court, overpriced student store and over priced cafe, nightmare parking situation"
"Beautiful and well maintained campus. Easy access and easy to find spots. Admin staff is very helpful."
"Nestled amid stately oaks and lush landscaping, Sacramento City College is characterized by a welcoming, scholarly atmosphere. The well-designed grounds and buildings have amazing architectural details that are easy to miss, but delight the eye and make it an interesting place to spend time and study. It's a beautiful campus and a rich resource for students. Oh, and there are some very friendly squirrels here too!"
"I’m currently singing with Dr Daniel Paulson and the SCC college performance choir . It’s a great way to participate in community and SING. DR Paulson is an amazing teacher. He is doing a tribute choral event honoring the late Doreen Irwin my previous choral director. We are singing Faures’ Requiem and a ton of Doreen s original choral works One can join every semester and learn to sing !"
"Spent 5 semesters here. I had a great time and never had a problem with any of the students or staff. With the exception of one English professor who is not great at teaching in my opinion. I feel that the programs and counselors (Ken in particular) really did a great job of setting me up with a solid plan to take the classes I needed in order to transfer to a university."
