"Whatever you do, DO NOT BANK WITH THESE PEOPLE!!!!!!!!! STAY AWAY!!!! They are predatory especially towards older people. They inactived my retired mom's account claiming lack of activity which was not true at all. And now they have made it exceedingly difficult to close the account and retrieve her funds. DO NOT USE THIS BANK FOR ANY REASON WHATSOEVER. If you do bank with them, close your account immediately and be sure to do so in person"
"Stay Away From UmpQua Bank Worst bank ever to do business with. Since the merger with Columbia bank, Umpqua has become the bank of frauds, thieves and criminals. Stay away if you don't wanna lose all your balance and savings. Got a prank call indicating that my bank card has been illegally charged for $59.00. I quickly logged-in to my account while on the call and could not see the charge. They stressed they could see it on their side. Few days later, $13k disappeared from my accounts. Don't do business with these people, they are bad people since the merger with Columbia bank merger. Stay away. To be honest, there shouldn't be a star at all for this bank. Unfortunately there isn't a zero star or no star rating. If there was, I would have given them a "no star" or zero star."
"The absolute worst customer service. Notice that the last good review was in 2018. Got a mortgage re-fi & wanted to set up online banking. Easy, right? Had to call 3 numbers & spent 2 hours on the phone & was told "information as missing." They literally have all of my information, but ok. After all that, was told I had to go in-person to their downtown branch. Did that. 30 minutes, standing like I was ordering a sandwich. No one offered me a seat. I see bankers at their desks, chatting away, looking very comfortable, definitely not serving clients. Still told "information was missing", no empathy or care, then told to go home & get back on the phone to set up online banking! Got home, got on the phone... info still missing. Last phone guy was nice & I THINK he set me up..but it will take 2-3 biz days to kick in so still no online access. WOW. Is this 1999?! Am I doing a CIA clearance? I have so much remorse for banking with Umpqua. The worst. They could do a job training video on how not to treat customers."
"Where do I begin to tell the story of my relationship with Umpqua Bank? I simply wouldn’t be in my present line of work if it were not for the information and energy around innovation I have received from visiting Umpqua’s flagship location on Sansome Street, attending events, and speaking to Umpqua store associates. I remember when the flagship location on Sansome opened in August of 2013 very well. Shamelessly, I was one of the people who lined up every day for a week of free lunch at the food trucks — each day a different cuisine. Ice cream day was the charm, and I marched right in for Annie to sign me up. Umpqua seemingly has a way of retaining its talent; 5 years later, Annie is still with the bank! I look forward to seeing Mary, VP and Community Manager, and, Relationship Bankers like Abdul, who all know me by name, every time I pop by for coffee or to power up. These are relationships of trust. They have seen me evolve and grow as a budding entrepreneur, and I feel completely confident my assets are in good hands. The generosity extends way beyond free food to food for thought. This is where I first heard Tina Sharkey, now CEO of Brandless, and Tom Kelley of Ideo speak. One kernel of truth spoken by Ms. Sharkey — that the “narrative” is not dead in technology — set me on my way to creating content for online businesses, and, now, working on books with Founders who are ready to tell their stories. The highlights of the catalyst series are preserved in the interactive, state-of-the-art Catalyst Wall that is a must see! I have witnessed firsthand that “your story is your business.” I am proud that my relationship with Umpqua Bank is key to both my business and my story. Wherever I see that green sign with the golden pine, I know I will be welcomed!"
"Extremely helpful and friendly staff members. The bank distinguishes itself by providing personable service to its clients and I must say it's doing a great job at it. Many banks reportedly refuse or unable to open an account for foreign visitors but this wasn't the case for Umpqua. They took the time to explain the different account types and didn't mind that I chose a free one for my simple need. I highly recommend Umpqua. It's a bank that doesn't feel like a bank."
