Serenata Townhomes

"I'm giving this place two stars and not just one star due to the fact of how they handled my situation after the fact. So from the beginning, I saw Serenata Townhomes online around mid-September and figured I'd call to see if they had any availability before I wasted anyone's time. A couple issues I have with this complex, one they never answer the phone or return voicemails and two the hours of operation are a crazy mess and listed on different websites as different hours so you never know when you may or may not catch someone in the front office. I met with the front office personal who is solely one guy who manages the front office, the complex, does all the maintenance, paperwork, etc. This guy does EVERYTHING. Which I don't think is fair for him or the residents. So with him being the only guy working for the whole complex, obviously things can get slowed down a bit ie, not returning phone calls, not returning emails, maybe being in the front office. So I ended up sitting down with him at the front office and he said they had 2 units available, but I couldn't view any model units as everything was occupied. I said okay that's fine, I liked the reviews I saw on Yelp, liked the community, liked the price and liked the photos he showed me. That night I sent in my application and my $300 hold deposit on my unit. I tried not to bother the front desk until closer to my move in date which was about a month later. I emailed them 17 days out requesting to set up a time and date to view the unit and go over the lease. I was told I couldn't view the unit as someone was currently living in the unit. I said "that's fine, I understand but If I could view the unit several days before move in that would be great because I'm presuming that the tenant's will be moved out several days before I move in" I didn't hear anything back. So I tried to be patient and again emailed several days later. I asked again when could I view the unit and go over the lease. I didn't hear anything back. By this point I'm starting to feel a little uneasy about the whole situation. I have 12 days till I'm supposed to move in and I have not heard anything from the office. Two days go by and I'm still in the dark, no one returns my calls, my emails, so I decide to go in person and see if I can catch anyone. It's Wednesday at 4:30 pm. The office is closed. By this point I'm starting to feel like something shady is going on. I go the next day to put a stop payment on my $300 deposit check and start frantically searching for a new place to live. I'm down to the wire with 11 days to go until move out. I finally get a call from the front office with 11 days to go, after weeks of no communication telling me my unit is ready for move in. By this point I'm really upset and stressed with this move. I tell him I'm no longer interested in dealing with Serenata Townhomes and to give me back my application fee and my check. He said he understands my frustration and apologizes profusely saying all the jobs he does and how he is only 1 person. I understand that, but then the resident gets punished for bad management. They really need to hire another person just for maintenance. The reason that I'm giving an extra star from one is because he did meet with me later that day and return the check that he "wasn't supposed to give me back". He also after saying he couldn't refund me the application fee somehow figured that part out and paid it back to me the following Monday. Also on a side note the complex is conveniently located across from Walmart and target etc. Which I was excited about initially, but after visiting the Walmart across the street a couple times, I was kind of glad that Serenata Townhomes fell through because the area surrounding is ghetto. The Walmart is especially distasteful, Homeless sitting outside, trash everywhere, people smoking weed in the parking lot, thug looking teenagers harassing you to buy their candy for a "school fundraiser", etc. So yes there is my full review of Serenata Townhomes and the surrounding area."

"I love living here, I've been living here for about a year and a half with my hubby and doggy. Never have had any problems with my neighbors or any crazy people. I love the interiors, they're really good quality material. It's really nice and fancy. The price is amazing for a 3 bedroom. Let's see what else there's everything across the street, it's in a very central location. Literally super close to everything."

"This is a very well presented small community. I have lived here for about 1 year now and I have no complains about the location of these townhomes. It is within walking distance of literally everything that you need on a daily basis, I mean everything! On the down side, the rent is very expensive for the size of the townhomes. Yes, 3 rooms, but the third room is more like office size. But honestly, if you can afford it, you will like it. There is an "oldish" lady who complained about the kids playing outside on the driveways. The landlord was pretty cool about letting kids play and "be kids" for a while until this lady started threatening tenants and their kids. She threaten me to tell my boss about violating the lease rules. Yes you read correctly, she does not know me, neither where I work. She took pictures of me and my kid playing outside. A day later the landlord asked us, very courteously, to refrain from playing outside because we made too much noise for her. There is a lake 5 min walk from the townhomes, and it is beautiful and very enjoyable, but they close at 5pm during the winter and 7pm during the summer. I take my kid there on the weekends, but I cannot take him during the week, that's why we used to get some playtime outside our residence until this incident. Bottom line is, if you have kids, you may want to find another place with more space for them to play around, if this is it important to you."
