Avia La Jolla Senior Apartments 55+

"We have now moved from this apartment after living there a little over a year. The size was great; 1500 + sq ft. The floors weren't even level! It was like walking up and down hills in our own apartment, very severely rolling floors. The gas stove had knobs on the front, so that we bumped them when we turned on the microwave overhead; we bought knob protectors after we smelled gas one time. The master bath was designed as a dressing room without a door. The construction and crime in the area is what became the final straw. The office was hardly ever open, the phone almost never answered, and we never saw the same maintenance person twice if they came after several weeks after a second or third request. We were in Avia 2 which had a pool, but it never got fixed, so we had to go across the street, quite inconvenient. Appliances were cheap as they could be. There were other smaller annoyances, but you get the picture."

"We are huge fans of this apartment complex. It's quiet and clean and we've been here for three years. The only problem is when something breaks. Every time we have had something break, we have had to escalate. The last one was a broken faucet handle which makes it hard to keep the water from turning off. I was first told that the management is understaffed for service people and that there is nothing they can do. They told me that they have apartments where there is no water, no heat, and no air-conditioning and that what I am experiencing was "livable". Additionally, they said that at least I have two bathrooms and should use the other one. Lastly they said that if I don't like it- they will give me a "notice to vacate". We pay our rent on time and are good tenants. I get that we are all frustrated, including the management team, but that is very unprofessional. Follow Up: Wow. Eduardo came today and fixed our faucet. He was terrific! Thank you for getting this fixed. This has renewed our faith in the team here and our choice in living in the excellent Avia II!"

"The residents are a nice mix of backgrounds, ages, interests, and The staff seems to be interested in enhancing the activities. The maintenance is improving (the door lock at the Avia1 pool took about a week to repair as opposed to the last time which took months)."

"We just arrived a few days ago. We didn’t see the apartment before we signed our lease. The staff we have met are very friendly. Leasing process was not smooth at all but we did it anyway. The apartment itself is OK but not luxurious the floors are uneven and there are things about the apartment that are strange for example there’s no door at all on the master bathroom it’s sort of like a dressing room and then there’s a door on the part of the bathroom that’s the toilet in the shower. As with everything there are things we like and don’t like about new situations. We have heard there is an activity Director but so far we have not even seen a calendar of events so it doesn’t look like there’s much going on."
