"I do not recommend renting on the second floor. I do not recommend living here if you are sensitive to odors or noise. The second floor is concrete and unfortunately noises transmit to the units from the gym as well as the janitorial closet, community room, garage, stairwells, and other units in a bizarre way, causing very loud and pervasive bangs and clunks that sound like they are coming from every direction (we truly wondered if our upstairs neighbors were dropping bowling balls as this is what it sounds like). The gym is open from 7 a.m. from 10 p.m. so you may not have quiet during this time. It’s been the largest source of noise. Exhaust fans/vents from the bathroom and kitchen feed to the alley, so they also deliver sound from the alley right into the living areas, including the very vocal unhoused population frequently present. This has resulted in very little peace and quiet for us and our dog, who is terrified by the sounds. Weed and cigarette smoke odors have also been problematic, as confirmed by emails sent by management to all tenants on multiple occasions asking for them to stop. Otherwise, it’s been a mostly fine place to live. The hot tub, secure parking, and parcel lockers have been nice to have and the walkability is great."

"Our experience living at Strauss on Fifth has been absolutely amazing. Elaine is the best of the best, and we can truly say that she is the best Property Manager we have ever dealt with (and we have moved a lot). My husband and I value customer experience/service beyond everything else, and she is by far the best (our standards are quite high :) ). Maintenance/Cleaning staff are also very friendly/professional, and do an outstanding job; Martin takes care of maintenance requests in a timely manner and the building/amenities are always clean due to Nallely's constant efforts. She also cleans the exterior of the building every morning, which we appreciate as this is an Urban location and cleanliness is a priority to us. We have two pups and they love the staff here as well :) The actual apartment: We love the layout of our two bedroom/two bathroom unit. It has the perfect # of windows (not too hot in the hotter months and not too cold in the colder months); the windows also block the street traffic/sounds very well. I can work in peace/quiet. Both bathrooms are very spacious. We have a huge kitchen island and all amenities work well. As previously mentioned, if ever there is a need for any maintenance requests, they are taken care of timely. Amenities: Gym has everything one would need for an effective workout, including a yoga room. We don't use much of the amenities, other than the gym, but everything is well taken care of (lounge, grills, etc.). Other: Parking is very secure and we appreciate the lower levels/residence parking having closed gates at all times. Elevators are well maintained and we have not faced any issues. Overall, our experience residing at Strauss on Fifth has been nothing short of amazing, and we are beyond grateful for the staff here. We wouldn't have this experience if it weren't for them."

"Strauss on fifth is a great place to live because of the wonderful staff. Elaine is always at the office to greet you and take care of any concerns. The community is always clean, maintenance was prompt and did good job. I have nothing negative to say and I had a great time leaving here walking distance from Balboa Park it was a beautiful place and my patio was very private. You will hear some homeless people around but I still loved living here."
