Gables Point Loma

"I have lived here for about a year and a half and am finally getting out of this hell. As someone who has moved a lot due to work, this is the WORST place I have lived in the entire country. The biggest issue I have had is theft. I’ve had more packages stolen here than everywhere else I’ve lived in my life combined (and I’m from Philly if that tells you anything). My car has been broken into twice and my storage unit in my car port was broken in to and I had $3000 worth of camping equipment stolen. When telling the office about this all I got was a “sorry” even though I’m paying monthly rental fees for this storage unit. Have also had laundry stolen out of the dryers and I’m the kind of person that is there to pick up my stuff the moment it finishes. Everything breaks. Everything. And maintanence is nice but have no idea what they are doing. My dad was visiting once and had to fix my sink due to maintanence attempting multiple times. Their solution to a leaky sink was to have a fan blow on it for 3 days lol. Also the water has been turned off too many times to count for alleged repairs. The amenities seem nice at first but it’s all smoke and mirrors. The lounge that they will advertise to you is never open and you can only get access to it from the office staff during daytime hours. The gym has flooded a million times. The fire pit has never worked since I’ve been here. And there is usually only one grill working at a time. Police are called here constantly. Not only is it loud but it’s a consistent reminder of how unsafe it is. People are constantly in and out. Constant moving trucks. Definitely a red flag. Do NOT move here. You can easily find places in the same area for the same price."

"We just moved in this past week and it has been so peaceful. I love the location of Gables and the size of our apartment, especially the big windows. Jillian was so helpful to get us settled and make sure any issues in the apartment were fixed. The one thing we haven't loved is loud yappy dog that barks in our hall. It echoes down the hall and we aren't a huge fan of that."

"Gables Point Loma is tucked away in a nice residential neighborhood. There are plenty of shops nearby. The beach is a few short miles away making it fun and easy to bike to. The pool and gym are sweet amenities. I appreciate it being super pet friendly. The dog run area is convenient. The only downer is with that many residents, some pet owners do not pick up after their pets in and around the property. Despite the community providing doggy bags, there is always poop on the grass and along the driveway in parking spots. I’ve even come across urine and poop in the hallway or stairwell. It’s quite disgusting and extremely inconsiderate. The planes start flying at 6:30 a.m. and that took some getting used to. I’ve had to submit a maintenance request for a clogged kitchen sink which I wouldnt constitute an emergency though I still needed to use my sink. It took two days for someone to come out. The staff are friendly and professional; however, It seems they’re always understaffed. Overall, the neighborhood was best part of living at Gables. Ultimately had to move due to increasing rent."

"I have been living at Gables Point Loma since April 2020, and I'm SO glad I made the decision to move here. Daniel, the assistant manager showed me the property. He was so informative and told me things about the property that I would have never thought to ask - and after touring other apartments I knew I wanted to live at Gables. Daniel's amazing customer service and attention to detail did not stop once I signed the lease. He is very attentive to the needs of the tenants, and has always been quick to respond. My superior experience would not be the same without him. I'm also really impressed by the constant renovations here, nothing feels run-down. In the 9 months I've lived here I've seen: windows replaced, new pool furniture, a remodeled game room, tree trimming, elevator renovations, and probably more that I'm forgetting about. The property also threw the tenants a "Great Gatsby" themed party this summer, complete with a DJ, photo booth, and food truck! The apartments are located up on a hill which makes for great views and removes us from noisy traffic. I never hear my neighbors which is incredible for apartment living. I'm so happy with my experience so far. The rest of the staff (Josh) and maintenance have been great as well. Any requests to have things fixed in the apartment have been handled quickly even despite COVID. I highly recommend this property!! And don't forget to ask for Daniel if you're touring!"
