"My name is Sadia. I had the worst experience I don’t wish on anyone to ever have to deal with. I can’t believe how long they took with my application and the process and hopes up. They told me everything was good the first night I went to tour this place. I paid $200 hold deposit and money for security check. They had my application since 11/13/23 made me believe I was going to get this place. Spend more than thousands of dollars in hotel. I stopped looking at other homes and apartments. Because they told me I was going to be leaving here. They sent me emails after emails to sign the lease online to register for the tenant portal. Join the community at Signature point. They made me run in circles after all of that. They rejected me. I am going to report this apartment for what they put me through. But I just wanted to give any family trying to move here or single moms a heads up. Don’t believe what they tell you. If you want to tour here and they ask you to fill the paperwork don’t just stop here. Please please make sure you have a back up plan. I feel 100% I was discriminated against and I have proof to show and emails and everything. I will make sure to report this apartment. Because what they did to me as a single mom and kids it’s not right. I believe 100% god has a different plan for me. And god will bless me and my kids with a different home before Christmas. Good luck on your apartment hunting and I hope I saved someone from what I went through."
"avoid this dump. horrible place to move into. we made a bad decision. they do not allow 6 month leases. we signed a 13 month lease because they only allowed those. do not move into this place. there are too many kids in this comple. the cellular service, spectrum, does not work & has poor reception. my cell phone doesn't work either, i have at&t. we want out of this god aweful lease!!! i cry daily when i return home. i have to conduct business across the street on my laptop & phone because the reception is bad. the landscape on the prop. is dreadful. save yourself the headache and avoid this dump!! we have a 2 bedroom & pay over $5,000."
"I moved here primarily because I wanted to live in this area and it was one of the few places that allowed large dogs. Darlene knew me and my family by name. She was the only one who made the office tolerable. I had a garbage disposal that needed to be replaced but they insisted that since it ran when they turned on the switch, it was fine. They were coming over once a week to unplug the drain. It then plugged on a single Romaine lettuce leaf a late Friday morning when we were planning on company on the weekend. They decided that I could wait the weekend. I couldn't use the sink or the dishwasher all weekend long and it smelled horrible. It was awful. The whole apartment smelled while company was there. I had to wash dishes in the bathtub. I'm sure they did it to punish me. I stopped using the garbage disposal altogether. Everything went into the dumpster. A few months later, it finally started leaking because it rusted through. They replaced it and the sink never plugged again. Apartments look nice, but cabinets are cheap and the paint they use is cheap. Appliances are the bottom of the line in terms of energy efficiency. The HVAC system is an energy hog. We used the AC for less than an hour a day and we were in SDG&E's top tier for pricing because we used so much electricity. The pedestrian Bridge to Del Mar J Highlands was a plus. I knew very few of my neighbors. Everyone pretty much drives into their garage and the door shuts behind them. The price is high, but you have outstanding schools within walking distance. You also have the pool, hot tub, tennis courts, sauna, steam room, gym, business center, tot spot, etc... right there. I used the amenities the first year or two I lived there, but then I stopped using them. The steam room I couldn't use because it always had a weird chemical smell. They raise your rent as much as they legally can every year. They have offers for things like "one month free" and they credit you 1/12 of a month rent every month. Then the next year your rent rate and increase is based on the full amount of rent. I'm glad I found out about The California Housing Finance Agency's first time home buyers down-payment assistance program and I was able to get out of there before rent went from outrageous to obscene. My rent on a three bedroom was going to go up to $3,300 a month in 2019 when I moved out. Look how much it is now. If you are interested in the program, Google it. It is run by the state of California. If you can afford the rent here, you almost certainly qualify."
"A couple of months ago, I wrote my initial review as below and rated this apartment with one star. (For the reason, please refer to below) Now I have been living here for 2.5 months and I would like to update my rating considering not only pricing system but also community environment. And maybe several months later I'll update my review again. I still remember my bad experience during application process and singing agreement, but I can say this community is one of the best community here in San Diego. Shopping Mall including supermarkets(Ralphs & Jimbo), Highway Entrance, High Quality Schools(Solana Pacific, Highland, Creek, Camel Valley Middle School, High School) and Library are all very close. Especially as Signature Point have the separate bridge between the community and shopping mall & Solana Pacific Elementary School, we don't need to across the road and it takes only 5 min to Supermarket from my apartment and 8 min to School by walk. Apartment is clean and well managed, peoples living here are so kind. There was no delay of support from office whenever I needed so far (When I called to office with the leakage of sink, the staff visited within 10 min). One problem I had was about ants. But I think we are quite well managing with pesticide and it is not the issue of this community only as I can found ants everywhere in San Diego. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I don’t think they have the structured and reasonable price system. Generally people think if someone suggests higher price, it means better housing and better service. But it doesn’t work here. Don’t believe if you choose more expensive one, you will get better housing. Price change occurs everyday without any principle or directions. The monthly fee for unit A was more expensive about $200 than B and both of them was above $3200. So, we chose unit B. Ridiculously, they have dropped the monthly price for A by $400 in 2 weeks after we applied for unit B. I tried to make new rental application to change my choice for better location with lowered price even though I am supposed to lose holding deposits and application fee), but I couldn’t because of the website error!! The next day, they just said it is not available now. Is there anybody who will accept $300 or 400 drop of monthly fee after contract before move-in?? I don’t see any fairness and cannot feel trustworthy."
"Cons: * Every time you renew your contract they raise almost $200 - $300. I talked to some neighbors who lived here for years, and such raise seems to be a norm here. If you are planning to buy a house and renewing your lease for less than a year, the rent will go up even more!! * If you have visitors staying overnight, you need to log onto a parking management website, type in the color, the model, the year of manufacture and number plate of your friend's car each time you want to print out the permit! (You only have ten a month!) You may think it's crazy, but it's actually a giant step improvement! It had horrible parking policy until recently. You were required to use permits when your visitor stayed after 6 p.m.!! (Also received 10 permits a month.) The contracted company is very diligent in towing cars away, weekends or weekdays. A neighbor's visitor's car got towed twice (which costs them around $300 per tow), and I heard about another neighbor who had four cars towed on one night during a party. Fortunately, the 'curfew' was changed to 11 pm recently after almost a year of residents voicing out complaints to the management. (Phew, finally!) * Currently there is a major renovation going on around the pool, BBQ and the communal area. Cut to the chase, I don't know if those changes were necessary or would justify the inconvenience residents had to put up with for many months. Those areas were decent enough so I was surprised that they would start almost a half year long construction. Naturally, I was excited, expecting 'major' upgrades like improving small playgrounds or expanding the pool. But from the outside, I'm disappointed to see that it's more like beautification project, like changing plants or tiles on floors surrounding the pool. (To be fair for the management, you get $25 reimbursed per household during construction if you choose to use a nearby pool. But come on, that would be just enough to cover one trip to the pool if you have a four-person household!! ) Pros: * It's close to the malls and schools. * Gym is pretty decent. I prefer running outside, but on rainy days, it's neat to have a gym in the complex. * I think it's pretty quiet although it's close to the main road. * Swimming pool was not big but was decent enough for family use (currently under renovation). Our lease is winding up and currently thinking about moving to other places in the neighborhood. I love its location, but we started to doubt whether its pros outweigh cons. I hope they don't use the renovation as an excuse to raise rents."
